Yep thats right. I've been testing hourly, and while I had a hypo today, I have not had any insulin at all sice my Lantus last night. I'm not eating, coz I'm sick, but usually that doesn't make a difference for me, I need to bolus whether eating or not. I was wondering if anyone else gets like this at all??

Have you no shame woman? Stop gloating. LOL No seriously, my husband can go without some actrapid injections if he has his protophane and he's sick.

Well 2 days last week I woke up and took my Lantus. THis was when I was taking all 28 u in a.m. I wasn't feeling real great so I didn't take my symlin or bs wasn't high enough to warrant novalog either. I stayed low 2 days WITHOUT novalog or symlin. I did take my Lantus each morn. BUT then bs started to creep up and I had to start back:nurse: I sure enjoyed those stick-free days. Dont know what happened  I thought a miracle had happened....SHORTLIVED!!!

You are never suppose to stop taking insulin. You just change the amounts to what you are eating/not eating. Without insulin, you have no way of getting glucose pushed into the cells. Which, then you have another problem.
I see Nana was diagnosed a few months ago, so she's most likely honeymooning right now.

If I don't eat, I don't have to bolus.
In fact, if I do enough physical activity, I have to eat and not bolus, if the amount of food is small enough.

I wasn't referring to you. I was replying to Stuboy's question about him being told to never stop taking insulin. So, chill down some.

I haven't taken anything but lantus in four months...I just exercise and control what I eat and my nightly shot is enough until the next night....and yes it is really nice!

Those ketones will probably go away once you are able to start eating again. I almost always show ketones when losing weight...

Yes that has happened to me but only cuz I was sick, but you are doing the right thing by testing often, you probably have a mild case of the flu or cold but you should be okay in the next few days, hope you feel better. If you want to rant go ahead and do that cuz we all feel that way once in a while and we all understand since we are diabetics! They should actually start a new section called "Let it Out!" where we can say whatever we want to and not be modded.
