We haven't eaten red meet for the last 15 years. We have substituted ground beef with low fat groung turkey (pre-packaged) Having just found out that my wife has diabetes, can anyone advise as to whether or not we can continue with the turkey?

Why not? Turkey is a good source of protein. And it doesn't spike the blood sugar.

The turkey is a very good choice----stick with it. It won't have any measurable effect on B/G.

Protein affects me 75% as much as carbs. It does take longer to affect my bg, but there is definately an effect and I do take insulin for it. I calculate the 75% and call them "equivalent carbs". I do a 30/70 combo bolus over 3 hours on my pump for all protein.
