I have officially had it with MM:mad: I have been with them since 2001,with only issues with quicksets in 2001 so I changed sets to sillohettes........
But since then my insurance has changed and at the warranty end ofpump it broke and I needed to get a new one...They lied to me about my coverage, by 1, not informing me I had a cap on DME, 2part of deductible of 2000.00 was sent to their financial partner, wich total monthly payment included a 5.00 service fee,,financial partner says otherwise and are billing me 5.00 extra every month....3, a note was put in my account by minimed that says DME cap does not apply if company for insured is headquartered in Az????? Well I am in Az and United Healthcare has no clue what I am talking about ...So I feel like MM just roped me in to getting their product without any concern of what this does to me financially....MM is looking into me returning my unopened supplies and pump( 522 new 7/25/2006 ),, and hopefully putting that to the 3800.00 they say I owe them...My question is

This leads me to going back to MDI,,,Can anyone advice me on what regimen would be one to start out with as I have not done MDI since 2001,,,I have an appt with a Endo on Nov. 9,,and would like to be prepared in what I would like him to help me acheive.....Thanks in advane for any suggestions

Most people find they take their total basal as Lantus once a day of 50% as Levemir twice a day, and then take their boluses as normal. You may find you need more insulin.

So lantus would be my basal insulin and levimur would be my bolus insulin,, or would I continue using novolog for my boluses? Also what about symilin?

Get MM on the phone and ask them to call your insurance with you on conference to straighten it all out. You're the consumer, both sides should be 100% agreeable to this.

Lantus and Levemir are BOTH basal insulins, both are supposed to be peakless in theory. Novolog is your bolus/correction insulin.

MM does not seem to care that I am the consumer...I had them on the phone for 2hrs and their response is I owe them what I owe them and have put a hold on my supplies till payment,,,So now its just a matter of them hopefully refunded my unopened supplies and a pump that is new....
They do however have have authorization from my insurance company for this..
However at this point I dont really want to further my relationship with MM..
I am not happy about going on MDI but feel right now would benefit me..1 insurance does not pay much, 2 due to me control is not good...

I would ask your doctor how to go on this. Firstly, they have to prescribe the insulin for you so they would be best to say how to use what they are prescibing.

Also, I would recommend trying to call another pump company and explain your situation and see if they can help you out and like duck said, do a conference call. All 3 parties should be involved in this so you don't get screwed again. Sorry bout your luck and I wish you luck getting it straightened out in the future.

I would honestly tell return the MM pump then and get on the phone with Animas and Smiths. And tell MM you are going to do this. And tell them why.

The hard part is the insurance company has to be in line with that too. Sorry to say this for anyone that works in it, but insurance companies have the biggest idiots working for them. So the problem is they will see a pump purchase on the account but will totally ignore the return or put the two together. Therefore, they insurance might say..."gotta wait 4 years, sorry pal, outta luck."

FG,
MM is aware that I want to return pump,,problem with going with another supplier is even with any monies they may refund me my ins company is not going to buy me another pump..so my intention is to go to MDI until I get out of school 5mths (medical coding) and get a better insurance company..
my taking of a job is going to come down to their insurance....even if they offer to write this off I still plan on returning all as they flat out lied to me....

Jedi your right most of the people you talk to within the insurane companies know very little about it,and dont seem to want to go out of their way to straighten it out...

What really gets me is the supposing note minimed has about the cap....but united healthcare has no note of it and their systems interact ?

Just to say this isnt to bash MM as I have had minor problems wich they have always helped out with in the past,,,but since this has happened their customer service to me has been%#&

Minimeds allowed amount to charge me was 3500.00 of that my insurance paid 2500.00 and I owe 100.00.(deduct) I am sure this pump being used for 2mths they are not goin to give me enough back for my ins to cover another one..by the way MM also was suppose to verify insurance but their is no record of this with UHC..There only contact was from MM on June 26, I received pump June 25,,,

Sweet&Sour,

How long have you had the new pump? You have 30 days to decide whether you want to keep it or not after it's been shipped to your door. They don't like you to know that fact.

I received it June 25th but didnt start using it until middle of July as the rep was not real fast in responding to meeting with me.

They know the 30-day rule, too. Conspiracy theory would say that they intentionally delayed your training to prevent you from turning back. :bebored:

HMMM,,another lie from them Donna, from customer support told me yesterday that she had to get authorization from my insurance company to return pump and supplies,,and she would put a hold an all accounts....

My insurance company says no she dont,it is my discretion if I want to return it...
