Just wondering if having ketones can make you get drunk faster...
I only had a couple of drinks at my friends party last night and was a total mess, I can usually handle heaps more...

Not sure about the ketones, but lack of eating will...

That's my thoughts too spike. If one is producing ketones from lack of food (which is the only reason they would produce besides a high BG) then that means there is lack of food to absorb the alcohol. That in turn intensifies the effects of the alcohol greatly.

Very true. That shows you what happens when I only have 4 hours of sleep (maybe less.)

I dunno about ketones, but I find the higher my BG, the longer it takes for me to clear alcohol out my system.

Aren't ketones also a by-product of liquor or alcohol? I think the more you have the longer it's like poison to the body, that's what I learned.

Here is an excerpt from Atkins Diet & Low Carbohydrate Support (http://www.lowcarb.ca) on the subject :
"The liver can make ketones out of alcohol, so technically, when you drink you continue to produce ketones ..... This rapid breakdown of alcohol into ketones and acetaldehyde (the intoxicating by-product) ... tends to put low carbers at risk for quicker intoxication ... especially if no other food is consumed to slow absorption."

Thanks guys... So i guess the moral of the story is along the lines of : "if you are eating properly, you will get drunk slower, and end up with less bruises on your butt from falling over"... yes, i am sore...
The ketones have been from not beaing able to eat properly, bgs have been A-ok (until now, 309 mg/dl or 17.2 mmol/l :( )
