My highest (that I know of) has been in the 400s. It was 400 when I was diagnosed, and when I was having issues with my Humalog, it went up to 432. :(

I don't know how high I was when I was first diagnosed, but a few days after I got home from the hospital I had a reading of 32.0 mmol/l (576 mg/dl) on my meter (I still have a logbook from this period!). According to my parents I was "high 30s or low 40s" when I was diagnosed but they can't remember exactly what, wish I knew the exact number.
Otherwise my highest in recent memory has been 29.9 mmol/l (538 mg/dl) about a month ago when I forgot my breakfast Humalog (and had a kinda big breakfast). :frown:

I've read "HI," over 600, on my meter before. My highest lab draw was 175 though.

I don't have the exact number, I was pregnant when I was diagnosed. (not gestational) They called me after the test where you drink the "sugar water" and said "have someone drive you to the hospital now and if there isn't anyone call an ambulance!" I was 6 months along and thought I just felt pregnant. Boy did insulin make me feel like a new person! My little baby justed turned 20, and she is fine:)

My highest that I know of was 250 and I was having bad vision problems. I couldn't imagine anything as high as some of you have had. Did any of you have vision problems at that rate? I would been blind at those readings.

Was in the 400s after some cotton candy years ago. That was the highest. Without meds I usually run in the low 300s.

I was also in the 1,100 range at diagnosis. But since then I have been over 600 on my home meter a couple of times in the past 20 years.

I don't know what mine was at diagnosis but it caused the ER doctor to tell my mother I should be dead.
I have read HI on my home meters a few times.
The only really high reading since I've been pumping was 443, when I was having serious issues with Quick-Sets. I have had a few in the 300's and a bunch in the 200 range on the pump.

When I was diagnosed I had a fasting blood sugar of 576 and I was 13 and weighed 56 pounds. Since then I think the highest reading was just "hi" on my meter so I really don't know but I felt awful.

I sure do, Gabby!
I have mild retinopathy anyway...
Every time I go above 22mmol/l (396 mg/dl) my vision goes fuzzy, and my glasses are barely a help. If I'm above 30mmol/l (540 mg/dl) I have no chance of seeing without my face pressed right up to something... I still try though... and my novorapid bolus is carefully counted out using the clicks on the novopen... grr

I must be the odd one here. I'm not sure what I was at diagnosis as I was 11 months old then. However, in 8th grade is the highest I remember and that was because I had bronchitis and they just gave me pills to pop that shot my BG sky high. I was over 1100 mg/dl at that time.
I still run probably twice a month over 400 and I can run 500 and not even know it. Yet there's times I run 200 and just drink and pee alot, but at 500 seem normal. :hmmmm:

Dunno what I was at dx but my highest I've seen is something like 23.5 (423). I tend to just feel really sleepy and thirsty when that high. Luckily for me I can count the number of times I've been over 16 since dx on one hand.

Diabetes doesn't come on in an hour. It takes time, even for a type 1. So, you could slowly be creeping up to that over say a 2 week or month period, meaning your body has time to adjust to being normal. They usually estimate for a type 2 that they are diabetic constantly over 200 mg/dl for over a year before symptons and diagnose shows up. I'd hate to be a type 2 with a fasting BG of 400 upon diagnosis.

I was around 600 when the Dr told me I was a type 2 because I was old and 19yo. So being for 10 years with pills and not testing but once or twice a day (Dr told me not to waist my money on a meter) In 2000 I went into the ER because I was sick and I was between 900 and 1000 and re Dx as type 1. Then in 2004 I was again re Dx as type 1.5

I know what you mean.
When I eat something that makes my level rise that is when I feel thirsty, and tired etc. When it rises slowly from other reasons like maybe my set is needing a change or just something not related to eating I don't notice the high sugar symptoms as much. Weird.

I was just over 1,000 mg/dl upon diagnosis with a 13.4 A1c. In response to a post above, you bet my vision was blurry. I was so busy peeing, though, that I hardly had time to worry about the bluriness.

Not sure at diagnosis.
But during teenage years ran 300 to 400 pretty often. I think my highest ever was probably 540 or something around there. But I've been higher I guess; I had that "hi" message show up on the monitor one night (is that 600 and up?).

July of 2001 official diagnosed over 700. May of 2006 was 494 from my lab. Who knows what the real number was they said there meter didn't go that high in July 2001. I know they brought me down quick and I lost my vision for about 45 days but it came back. Was real sick.
I believe I'm coping with the damage highs have done to me.
Pumping now. Just had a 97BG on my Ultra Smart tonight at about 9:30pm. When on Mixtard would have been 280 or above.

I was in the 600 area when diagnosed. I felt like I was going to die, but also had strep throat and a bleeding ulced along with being totally dehydrated. That combination would make anybody think their last day was upon them.

Been type 1 since 1956 at 8 yrs old at that point it was 1148 mg I had went from 348 lbs to 89 lbs in 30 days. Then in 1963 it went in to 1200,s for a long time. They put me in the hospital said I should have died of course they were wrong! But since the invention of the home metor I still have occassions when my metersays high.Which means over 600.But I can nomally get my blood down to 80 or 90 within 3or4 hrs.By a larger injection though my paradigm 712 pump using Novolog and also I know if I force my self to go out in my yard and do yard chores until I start working up a heavy sweat, helps my blood sugars drop rapidly. My A1c lately have been running 5.8:We are all different. If you fell like you can experiment a little with your insulins and eating and checking your blood a lot to see what exersize and food has on your blood sugars you can at times gain better control than just sticking to a set routine. This are just my comments. RWIII

I suppose they did. No one mentioned it.
