Reminder for time change on Oct 29th

You know, the time change has been on my mind for a few days. I suppose I should just adjust to the clock with the Lantus shots? I was thinking I would simply start Sunday morning....I'd have an hour's difference from my usual time between shots.
Actually, writing all of this out I see that it's really no big deal...bear with me please, a little insulin paranoia!

We had our Daylight Savings change a few weeks ago, and I decided not to stuff about... just have my jabs at the same time regardless of what the clock says (I mean, the same point in time.. urr.. how do I word this? lol... ) So where I used to have my protaphane at 9am & 9pm I know have it 10am & pm.

It's actually worked brilliantly for me because now I still have a little bit of protaphane left in me when I get up. It's always bothered me how the PP doesn't quite last long enough, so now I take a unit or two of Novorapid when I get up and that covers my lull :) Same for the evening lull.

It's great to have finally stumbled upon a great way of keeping my numbers from fluctuating! It may seem odd to others.. but I'm happy it works and I'm finally looking forward to an hba1c test! :)

Those of you on the other side of the world: Enjoy that extra hour! Some bugger stole that from me a few weeks ago and I still miss it ;)

Don't forget to check/change the batteries in your smoke detectors and review what to do if a fire occurs with your family. Also good idea to check your heating systems for safety.

I take my meds and eat whenever I wake up, whether it be 7 am or 10 am. Is that bad? I hadn't noticed any difference.

For some yes. If they take it an hour late, then they may go an hour with no insuiln at which point their BG will creep up. That is the #1 reason many split their lantus dose into a morning and evening dose.

If they give it too early, then they may have time where the two overlap. So that could drop them down.

So for some it does matter, not all though.

The question the time change brings is, "the same clock time or the same physical time?' They are not the same especially when the clock time changes.
Of course, it's no big deal one way or the other; Lantus does not work for 24 hours and just stop, only cartoons work like that.

Other than changing the clocks on your meters, pumps and CGMS's, the article is just filler, IMO...
