This is yummy... filling... healthy...

chargrilled:

capsicum
eggplant
sweetpotato
zucchini
mushroom
tomato

layer the veges above into a stack in a baking dish, pour a tomato-based sauce over top (napoletana works well!), sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and bake for half an hour!

You can get as many serves as you want out of it, and it freezes well too!

YUMMY!!

Kit.

OOh, nearly forgot... It tastes fabulous served with chargrilled (yes, ok, I love the chargrill!) salmon or chicken... cooked with just a teeny tiny bit of black pepper and fresh basil...

Yep! A little bit of parmesan and black pepper (I'm a big fan of black pepper :D) works well, or a nice bechamel sauce...

Habanero... Actually, capsicum is the component that makes hot peppers hot. I have purchased pure capsicum before, but needed to sign a release of liabilities waiver to do so. It came in a vial with a medicine dropper. The vial was then placed inside a standard medican tablet container. Apparently if you drop it and some splashes on you, it can cause some real pain depending on where it hits you.

In this recipe, I would have to assume capsicum was referring to paprika...

I always thought capsicum = hot (very, very hot) pepper also. Bell peppers are definitely not hot.

So now I know what a Capsicum is. In this part of the world we call them Red, Green and Yellow Peppers. They are great in salads and stir-fry. Just a question 2high, why are you always talking about food? Are you on a food binge or what?:eating: :aetsch:

I love bell peppers, and like them cooked and raw. I prefer the red ones when eating them raw, with some kind of dip. About two weeks ago at the farmers market I even got purple ones!!!

But I think it's just a matter of different people calling them different things. Here in the USA I think most people assume hot if you say capsicum.

Capsicum are bell peppers in the US. Capsaisin is the HOT spice that all peppers have, *except* for bell peppers. Bell peppers have no capsaisin in them.

Bell peppers come in green, orange, yellow, red and rarely white, purple and brown. Green ones are not ripe, the rest are however the stages go green, yellow, orange, red. I don't know about the white, purple and brown.

Red bell peppers are used to make paprika, and the fruit is actually called paprika in other countries...

Okay, enough of the fruit lesson... back to your recipe, that I, by the way would die eating... I'm allergic to eggplant and mushrooms. I'd die faster if I added the fish to it!

I had some purple peppers a month or so ago. They tasted like green peppers. Not nearly as tasty as red peppers, but very pretty! I bought purple potatoes at the same time and should have bought the purple cauliflower as well.

I still have to remember to make one of these veggie stacks...
