Had my training class today.
I am now pumping.

We went right to insulin as my endo and trainer both agreed that I was ready to go right to insulin.

I arrived at my endo's office early in the morning with mu pump already programmed.
We went over a few features and a few instruction.
She then brought the inset and resivour out of the box and showed me how to fill the resivour, unwrap the inset, and prime it.
We then moved on to insertion.

This is where the first problem came up.
The inset wouldnt stick to my skin.
Out came tagaderm and the problem was fixed.

Now I have to report vack to my trainer every day for a week.

I myst say I am impressed.
Pump arrival to pumping in 3 days.

Awesome, take it, let us know what you get to see. I'm sure there's not really much to see, but I'd enjoy it.

Each one we take away from MM is another win for us. ANd personally, I think had they not done the switch to proprietary connections, they would still have a larger market. I know, you're going to say they now make pretty much everything that is in luer lock in a proprietary set too, however, the damage is done with people leaving them. Just like the billing problems, the damage is done, people left. And keeping a person is much easier than persuading them to come back after they left. Damage sticks with a company for a long time.

Animas keep MM honest. :) Without them, MM would get more sloppy. <g>

Does antone have any suggestions for my first night with the pump?
I am sort of worried about pulling out the site in my sleep.
I sleep in a pair of boxer shorts and without a shirt. (male)

Hooray! Welcome to the Animas club! :thrasher:

I sleep with a pocketed tshirt on. I cut a little hole on the backside of the pocket to thread the tubing. Never had any problems with pulling out a set while sleeping....

I am female, but sleep in pj's that are boxer-like shorts with a matching shirt. I think you can do without the shirt :) but I just clip my pump on the waistband of the shorts and sleep away. I do wrap the tubing around the pump - learned that on here - so there's not much hanging around. I've had no trouble sleeping at all - I haven't tried just throwing it in bed and jumping in after it as I've read that some do - but it stays securely on my shorts.

By now you've made it through the first night, but I did want to say that some of us find it works quite well to just tuck the pump under the pillow (with the longer tubing) and zonk out. I'm not sure if it works for people using the shorter lengths. I am an "active" sleeper, but my pump seems to stay under the pillow just fine.

cheers,

Having it in the clip seems like it would make it more bulky. I wear a pair of the grey jogging shorts that have 2 front pockets. You know , the kind made of that grey , little heavier than t-shirt material. I throw the pump in a pocket on the same side that my set is, and just use a safety pin to hold the pocket closed.
In colder weather I use flannel pajama bottoms with pockets. My mom the seamstress sewed some snaps on the pockets. But just because it works for me, doesn't mean anyone else would like it.

I sleep in anything from fully clothed to not at all, but usually the same as you. I seem to roll on each side every night, and I find having it clipped very annoying. I usually lay it in front of my waist or on the side of the set if I'm on my back. 43" is long enough that I don't have to take it with me when I turn over, but often I do just grab it.

You'll figure out what's best I'm sure.

I tried that..Yanked the set out in the middle of the night. So now I just lay it next to me.

Another thing that works well is to take a small pouch or perhaps a baby sock and put your pump in it, then pin it to any part of your clothing, etc...
