I have a Freestyle Flash meter that my last endocrinologist gave to me. I have been using my One Touch Ultra because I had lots of strips still, but it is finally getting close to time to order more strips. I've been thinking of getting the Freestyle Flash strips, but I do not have a data cable (which is important to me). Is there anyway to get one without having to pay the $37 through MiniPharmacy.com? I don't like paying an exorbitant amount of money for something as simple as a computer wire. I called Abbott and asked for a free one, but they would not give me one (big surprise, but I though I'd give it a shot :D). Has anybody had any luck getting one from a local Abbott rep.? I'll probably order one off of ebay, but I thought I'd check here and see if there were any suggestions. Thanks.

I thought there was a coupon included in the Flash for a free data cable? That's how I got mine.

Here is the number to get it free. The flash is Diabuddies.com perferred meter but the Ultra and Ultra 2 will be up hopefully this week.

That is the number I called, but the CSR said they did not give the cables away. Sadly, there is no coupon for a free one either.

I guess they stopped. :( I called and they just asked for my address and meter number and shipped one off.

I would call your endo and ask for the reps name.

They should be able to do that for you.

OUT!

If one of you out there has a data cable and would be willing to do a bit of work for the rest of us I would be glad to create a spec sheet for parts and directions to build them. What I need is for someone to do a "pin out" of their cable.
I suspect since they are using serial that on the DB-9 connector pins 2,3,& 5 are used. What I need to know from one of you who has a cable is which of these 3 pins on the DB-9 (computer end) connector go to the tip, ring, and base of the Freestyle plug end. This should be easy to do with an Ohm meter.

Once I have this info I will build, test and publish everything you will need to build your own cable.

So if someone out there has a pin out for me I will get this project going!

Thanks much!

Tip= pin 2
Ring= pin 3
Base= pin 5

Dont call and ask for the cable

Call and ask for the replacement software for the Copilot

They dont have a replacement for that software, so they will send you the old Precision link software that will likely include the cable - It worked that way when I called about 6 months ago
