My sis has had diabetes 2 for several years but does not take care of her self. She lives in a foreign country and is treated by a doctor.
She told us she had a pinched never and was in a lot of pain. We traveled to her and took her to a doctor. He said she had Neuropathy and that the build up of sugar was wearing away her nerve endings thus the pain. He changed her med from avandia to avandamet. Her pain stopped! (However, she had just spent 2 weeks having deep massages on her hip, back and leg)
My sis says that now her nerve endings will re-gel and all will be fine.
!. Does the statement that her nerve endings will re-gel (be repaired) by the new medicine make sense?
2. I thought that neurorphy was first detected by numbness of the extremities, i.e. feet. She has had no problem with numbness. She does walk with a sever limp because of a prior broken ankle and being 300 pounds overwieght which is why I wondered if she might have a pinced nerve. The doc does not think it necessary to have a MRI etc.
Thank you for any input.
