Here is the question. Is anyone uploading the bg meter readings to their own computer? Being the slow dim witted person I am I did a search on the internet and found free yes free software that will allow me to upload my meter to my computer. That way I can see how my blood sugars are doing. This is a great motivational tool. For me it was. I saw how poorly I was consistently checking and decided to test more. I did have to pay for the cable but hey the trade off was priceless.

I've been doing it for several years with my Accu-Chek Complete meter.

I do it, too, with my FreeStyle Flash meter. It's really helpful.

I also do this with my Profile meter. My Endocrinologist loves the printed reports when I go to the doctors office. They always want to see readings and hand written are OK but the computer print outs make them very happy.

I got free software and connector cable for my Freestyle meter. It's interesting, but I prefer my logbook layout. It's easier to read for me. The software does give percentages above, in, and below my target range and averages which is helpful info.

Heather,
How did you get free cable for the Freestyle meter?
Did you call customer service or did you get it when you bought the meter?

You know, I got an email from Therasense w/ the offer. In actuality, I paid 1 cent for the sofware and $4.95 for shipping/handling, but it still seemed like a good offer. I don't think the offer was available in canada, but here's the thread where I posted the link:

Hope it helps,

I do it with the Ultra One Touch Ultra Smart but am not real happy with their 'free' software.

I use the One Touch Ultra meter which allows me to upload my results. I had to hunt around for the software and cable which wasnt made readily available at all.

The english version of the software is pretty poor so I would advise using the US version instead:

If you need the connecting cable, go here:

I use www.diabetease.com but since they don't support my Medisense Optium yet, I have to input the readings manually. But this isn't a big problem.

I like the simple interface and the graphs they generate.

Also upload readings from my meter to the computer at the hospital's Diabetic Resource Centre using their Medisense Precision Link. The doctors can analyse the result from that computer directly.

I use a Freestyle Tracker that is a springboard module for a Handspring Visor Pro running Palm OS. In addition to downloading my reading to my PC when I sync I can view graph and charts, my log, all on the pda. I've been using mine for 2 years and haven't touched a pencil since. I also recently purchased a Freestyle Flash. $40 -$40 rebate I couldn't pass up a freebie. This is one amazingly small unit.

Again it's not virtually painless. It's painless plain and simple.

My only beef is with the PC software. It doesnt really function like I want it to.What I'd really like to do is export it to an excel spreadsheet.

Therasense has 2 options. Their proprietary software you install on your computer and/or a database they run and you subscribe to for free. Neither of which really appealed to me. The Palm software however is excellent You can even record your food/carb intake. I stopped doing that though because I ran out of allocated memory or records to store new food data. Besides, after awhile I didn't need to monitor my carbs as close anyhow.

I'll stop hogging this thread after I say the data cable is a freebie except for S&H, $5.00 I believe. As mentioned above. If anybody is interested I can upload a few pics of my meters? Otherwise you can see them and read about them at their website:

Just looking at it and theyr'e all there.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on their products BTW. Just a guy proud of his gadgets.
