Well, on August 1st I saw my endo and my cholestrol and all there were not where she wanted them. My A1C was also high, well, high for where it should be, but then again, I've only been under 7 once. Here were the numbers then....
August 1st
A1C - 7.1%
Total Cholestrol - 187
Triglycerides - 97
HDL - 41
LDL - 127
And now today, my numbers are...
November 1st
A1C - 6.3%
Total Cholestrol - 144
Triglycerides - 96
HDL - 38
LDL - 87
She wasn't worried about the HDL or Tri drop and said those are within lab error allotment. She asked what contributed to it, I said three words...."I moved out." I now cook my own food and do everything for myself. I know what I'm putting in my body and can weigh it pre-cooked with spices and everything else. I told my mom it was her cooking but she didn't think that was funny. But what else could it have been? LOL

That's great Jedi. If I was your mom, and you told me it was my cooking, I would have considered that a compliment! That means it's 'good-eatin'!!:-

What have you been doing Kevein, to improve those numbers so much?

What have I been doing? Let's see, I now own my own home so I cook all my own food. I properly weigh out all ingredients to a T. I'm still working on my food database system for my kitchen, so I don't have the computer fully in there yet, but I'm getting there. But I keep track of carbs alot better now. So that helped on the A1C.
THe other big help is all the exercise I get on solely cleaning my place. I'm a neat freak (except for making the bed, not sure why) and can't stand it to be a total mess. So I vacuum about every other day. I scrub the stove after each use and make sure the bathrooms are spic and span.
Pretty soon once I get more into it, I'm going to start using the workout facilities here so I can bring that HDL up.
Oh yeah, and I didn't post this in the numbers above, but since that August 1st appointment, I had lost 8 lbs by just watching what I eat. Either by eating smaller portions or more filling items.
Another item is a glass of alcohol about every other night. I love my Tequila Sunrises so I have one every so often. I've been thinking of trying the red wine (it's red right?) on the other nights to help with everything and see what that does.
I just told myself that moving on my own was going to change me, and I think by those numbers I can say it has. Remember, life is a Mind Game, just like golf, the game is played on a five and a half in course, the space between your ears.
As for Christmas at the PD, I'll have to see how well I can control that. That may be the tough one. People load us up with cookies and desserts that I just have to try some, maybe I'll be more controlled this year.

Hey Jedi, good work!
I also had high cholesterol while I lived at home, but it has been normal ever since I moved out. Again, its about what I eat.. I actually eat a lot less takeaway and a lot more good stuff now that I live on my own.
My mum wasnt overjoyed when I told her either.

I think that has something to do with it alot too. That and junk food. When I lived at home I'd eat dinner sometimes and sometimes not. The problem is I work 1st shift, meaning, breakfast at 5 am, lunch at 11, dinner at 4-5. When I lived at home, dinner wasn't till 6-7. So, I'd come home from work, eat a snack to hold me over, which usually held me longer, then I wasn't hungry for dinner, so I'd eat less dinner, then be hungry again at 9.
Now, I eat dinner at about 4-5 and then just a slightly larger snack at 8-9. Then the snacks I choose are alot healthier and I read all the nutrition label comparing different items. It's sad watching me spend 15 minutes deciding which bag of potato chips are better for me, lol.
I also do eat out less cause, well, I can make the same thing here. I think I have made french fries about 10 diferent ways and have even successfully made a quizno sub. Wasn't perfect, but was pretty darn good.
