I started on these 2 insulins about 3 weeks ago.I often feel as though I cannot breath properly, not to the extent of being distressed but irritated,it comes and goes through the day.Could it be the insulin ?? has anyone had such side effects.

Never heard of the insulin doing this. But you can only be sure if you stop using them. Try switching back to whatever you were on before switching to Novolog/Levimir for a while, and see if these symptoms go away. :)

I was on oral meds before and they were not working too good,so I have nothing to switch and compare to.

hey, I'm on both of these insulins and I've never had a reaction yet. I would however speak to your pharmacist and your doc as these sound like rather serious side effects to have.

That's so weird you would say that. As a kid I got that feeling. It felt like I couldn't take deep enough breaths. I don't know if it is diabetic/insulin related at all.

I don't know if this might apply, but having trouble getting a deep breath is one of the hypo symptoms I get if it's below 50. Have you tried checking your blood sugar when you feel this way?
I've read that different insulins give off different hypo symptoms, and it's certainly been the case for me.

i've recently started using NovoRapid, and i've had no side effects at all. I asked my nurse when i changed if she knew of any potential side effects to the two insulins i was changing to, and she said she'd never heard of anyone having side effects to them, and she's put 100's on these insulins.

My only side effect when switching to NovoRapid/Lemevir was that my low sugar episodes felt different, harder to detect early on.

I'm on Levemir and Humalog, and I have had no side effects from either.

I do, however, get that feeling re: trouble breathing when I'm having anxiety.

The only side effect I've had on Novolog is dizziness when I took a lot of it. That seems to have mostly gone away, after six months. But it wasn't so bad that I wanted to try switching, either.

I can see low bs or high bs doing this, but not the insulin. It sounds almost like asthma to me. I suggest going to the doctor for an evaluation.
