Hi there, I am a final year Product Design student at The Robert Gordon

University in Aberdeen. For my final year project i am looking at
unseen medical conditions or hidden disabilities such as Diabetes,
Epilepsy and Asthma. As i am also a sufferer of type 1 Diabetes this is

an area i have a keen interest in.
My project is aimed at increasing awareness amongst the general public
regarding such conditions so that in the event of an emergency they
would be more equipped to help. This could be a device worn by the
user, a teaching aid or simply a way of better communicating
information to the public.
I have created aquick online survey and would appreciate it if anyone
could find the time to fill it in.

Thanks Neal Calder

Hi Neal

Have done your survey - good luck with your studies!

I only have one small gripe - question 6 was a bit tricky (maybe better off as two questions?) I feel that people would recognise Medic alert, but I don't think many people would check a wallet... so I needed a space for two answers!

I've done your survey.

I think the general public wouldn't have a clue to look for a medi tag. Only those who may have had first aid training of some sort. I've asked people and no one has said they'd look for a medi tag of any kind.

Yes, I agree this question would have been better split into two for the same reason as you gave

I took your survey and I agree #6 needs to be divided into 2 questions. I do believe that most would recognize the emblems but wouldn't look in wallet for card. Also even if they recognized the emblems most wouldn't know what to do except call 911.

I would have taken it, but I got stuck on question 1 since I have more than one hidden disability.

Same thing here. I took the survery twice. All the questions were the same except 1 and 7. With asthma I feel most people know you need an inhaler when you can't breath. I don't feel a lot of people understand diabetic emergenices as well though.
