When my doctor told me I was diabetic last February '06, I was surprised because I didn't even have any of the noticeable symptoms. I didn't have sudden weight loss. Good thing I didn't because I'm only 108 lbs. I didn't have to urinate frequently especially at night. And, I was not thirsty all the time. If I didn't go to the doctor for my annual physical - I wouldn't have known. Now that I know, I look for the symptoms ie neuropathy which I started feeling about a month ago. All of a sudden I'm feeling stuff like dizziness when I'm hungry and sleepy after I eat. I'm trying to eat properly but it's very hard to get used to.

You didn't mention your bg's. Do you have a meter? Are you checking your bg's at all? When?
BTW, you have just explained why so many people are undiagnosed--no clear symptoms to prompt a doctors visit.

I was like you no real noticble symptoms. Until I went to the doctor for dizziness, April this year. I was told by two other Doctors I had fluid on the ear. But this one took tests. That is how I found out. Glad I did too. Not only do I feel better for the most part but I have also lost over 20 lbs.
I still have the dizziness but nothing else. Now I know one reason why I was always in a bad mood. By testing and diet with a little help from a few pills a day I am keeping under control. (Unless i eat pasta that day my weakness)
I have never seen dizziness as one if the symptoms of diabetes. Can some one explain how diabetes could cause dizziness?
Thanks.

My only symptom was what I call 'whooziness'...aka dizziness. I would feel woozy and then drink some oj. After drinking the oj, my bg would rise and then fall. The fall in bg would cause the whooziness and I would drink more oj to feel better. An evil cycle. I would go through a carton a day.
I only asked about the dizziness because a few weeks ago I experienced dizziness and it was thought to be an inner ear virus. The doctor gave me some steroids to take and wished me well.
Around the same time I had an A1C test result of 12, so I was wondering if the uncontrolled sugars were causing the dizziness and not an inner ear problem. I will ask my doctor when I see him next.
