Congrats! Are you going to stay with the same insulin regime?

Georgia...Can I ask what "up the duff" means in this context? I mean, I could try and fill in the blanks myself, but already I am venturing into scandalous territory.

Thanks everyone :)

Yes, I am staying with my current insulin regime because it is working great for me. I seem to be one of the lucky ones where Lantus works well.

Sorry, I realised as soon as I'd posted the message that the title was probably a bit confusing (was awaiting the innuendos....) so thanks 2high for helping me out there!!

Okay - more newbie questions, now that we know what up the duff means...

Tell me more about the problems with lantus?

Also, while this question maybe should be a different thread... here I am...
Does anyone know local persons with type1? Or is this online forum our main outlet to speak and hear about others in the know about this that we live with?
I mean, at the pharmacy it seems there is no understanding that there are 4 syringes each day in the humalog/lantus routine - am I the only one in this metro area that is on lantus/humalog?

And... I used to ask for the novo nordisk products before I was forced onto this humalog/lantus thing. Is there a novo humalog? Is there a novo lantus?

Can someone give a thumbnail description of benefits of bovine insulin versus this dna humalog/lantus stuff I am on today? and is there anyone here, that is in USA, obtaining the bovine stuff no longer available here in USA?

Hey Georgia!!! What took you so long? :D Congrats!!!! :)
I'm glad to hear that you are doing Good with your regime.
I'm so thrilled for you. When is the due date??

(your "Up the Duff" is like our "In the Oven". :) I think).

Hi Dan, you are correct. This is not the appropriate thread. To answer quickly:

-I'm in Canada, so I do not know of Type 1's in the Chicago area. Phone
up the American Diabetes Association(ADA) and the branch near you. They
should know all the Diabetes Support groups in your area. Or put an ad in your
area paper. Can't hurt to try.

There must be something irregular about your Pharmacy. Most people are
on Lantus/Humalog or Lantus/Novolog. No, there is no Novo Humalog or Novo
Lantus, that I've heard of.

I don't know about the US, but animal Insulins were stopped here last year.
They are still available from the UK and other countries(I would trust the UK).
I know they can be ordered from the UK and shipped to Canada(probably at a
higher rate due to shipping costs). So they should be able to be shipped to the
US also. PM SueM about it, she's on it and lives in the UK.
