Now, we have decided.....
When: Sunday, May 13, 2007 - Friday, May 18, 2007...See http://www.diabetesforums.com/meet-and-greet/13422-df-meet-greet-final.html for more info
Where: Las Vegas, NV
~Hotels: Most people appear to be staying at the Excalibur and Luxor (although one can stay anywhere)...See http://www.diabetesforums.com/meet-and-greet/13571-df-meet-greet-hotel.html for more info
Why: Because we can
Who: Anyone that wants to come
What: That is what we need to talk about now.
This thread is to discuss possible activities that we can do during the days we are there. Not including Sunday or Friday, we will be there 4 full days. Therefore we need some ideas of things to do. I don't think we need a full plan and every hour booked because well, there are sometimes we might not want to be near each other.
Some ideas are.....
~Golfing - Anyone know any good places, how much they cost, and who would participate/provide clubs for others?
~All You Can Eat buffets - Any reasonable ones that still taste good? Anyone know where you can find buy one, get one free coupons for them? I know they exist.
~Any shows? Probably not for most since the popular ones are outrageously priced.
~Walking down the strip
~Gambling
~Sitting by the pools
~Any other ideas?
Just throw some ideas out there and if alot agree on them, then we can find a good time to do them or just leave that till closer to the date.

I'd like to play a round or two of golf and a round of miniture golf. I'll check it out and post back.
If I can get a big enough room I'll host some LOW(low = mainly for fun and talk) stakes poker.

Ooooo, I'm telling the gaming commission... you're not allowed to do that in Vegas... LOL
I'd like a day at Wild Waves. :D

Well crud... I went to find out if they had a website (and oops, it was called Wet N Wild, up here in Seattle is Wild Waves), and apparently they closed it in 2004. So that sucks. :(
If any of the Vegas members know if they've reopened elsewhere, or if there's a different water park there, please speak up!!!

Sorry, we no longer have a water park.
They take up a fair bit of space, and real estate is pricey here (particularly on The Strip). I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for another to appear. Then again, I've been wrong before. It's simply not the most profit you could squeeze out per square foot or acre.

Food first
The breakfast buffet at the Bellagio is supposed to be excellent. I will check it out after Xmas.
The Rio has a really really good seafood buffet, but you might starve to death waiting in line.
In the New York New York Gallaghers steak house is good but pricey.
In the Orleans, the Loft prime rib and steak are very good and reasonable.
Bally's has pretty good buffet.
Most of the bigger hotel buffets are passable.
Hofbrau Haus German theme good ompah band food is good too.
Gambling
At all the strip casino's the slots have tightened up considerably. Loosest slots are downtown (Golden Nugget etc.)
Best high stakes poker Bellagio
Best medium stakes poker Palms
Fun
At least one evening you must go downtown at dusk(just after dark) to watch the light show on Fremont street.
Cruising the strip in the evening, check out the water show at Bellagio.
Rio has Penn&Teller show about $55 a pop not bad for a Vegas show and Penn & Teller are good.
Wander through all the themed strip hotels. especially the high end hotels like Ceasar's, Ventian, Alladin, etc .....talk about decadence....lol
Madam Tausaud's Wax Museum
Golf
They have golf courses. nuff said about that. lol
Places to stay away from
Blue Moon Resort - Clothing optional gay place
Any place dark and off of a main street especially downtown
I love Vegas and would move there if I could find a job there.
