At the risk of starting another silly 'mine's bigger than yours' thread, what's the lowest bg you've ever had? My personal 'best' has been 1.5 mmol/l (27mg/d), which is when I realised that soup doesn't have as much carb as you'd think. Sure felt that one too, though I'm rather chuffed that I was still perfectly coherant throughout.
So what's everyone else's lowest bg?

26mg/dl. This one I know about. Couple rides in an ambulance could have been lower but I have no documented proof.

The lowest I ever was is 47 mg/dl. I felt very shaky and immediately had a Kellogg's Special Request food bar. They have 18 carbs, 1g fiber, 1.5g fat, and they taste wonderful! They brought my sugars right up to 115.
An no, I don't work for Kellogg's...lol

mine was 1.5 too.
i didnt recognise it reallt as it was the first i'd ever had. It was also the first time i'd ever had to do my own b.g test, as they'd done them for me in the hospital. i went to 1.5 mmol/l within minutes of leaving.
Luckily there were plenty of christmas chocies around :p :p !

I believe mine was somewhere around 36 mg/dl, but this was years ago and I can hardly remember. Funny thing is, I didn't feel it coming; I just remember feeling a little funny and decided to check my BG and low and behold that was the problem. Milk brought it right up though.

I was really sick once and went to a doctor who took my blood sugar and said it was 7. I'm not sure if it can be measured that low but I guess it's possible and it was a doctor who measured it so it could have been accurate. In any case, I'm sure it was pretty darn low. I think my Accu-Chek meter can measure down to about 10 so maybe they can get readings that low in a doctor's office.

The day saw a 1.0 mmol/L on my machine i couldn't believe my eyes. A little less than an hour earlier it had been 12.1!! I don't remember much of the next hour after that. I was home alone and it took me a while to figure out what the right food was to eat and how to actually get it to my mouth.

mine was a 26 and I didn't feel it coming or believe that it was real so I tested again and yep it was!
Best food to get in your mouth is maple syrup in the squeeze bottle....had one by my bed for months. just put in mouth and suck/squeeze syrup in....I have graduated to juice boxes now..LOL

Hi Everyone: :)
My lowest was 2.2 or 40 when i was flying. It was hard trying to get the attendants to give me a glass of oj & some sugar. So i now carry around glucose tablets which work wonders or even hard candy i was told.. My dec told me even a 1/2 glass of real coke does the trick.

7? As in 7mg/d? My god, that's like 0.4mmol/l!
You should be dead.....cool!
Incidentally, thanks to heather for giving this thread a point - hypo treatment!
Personally I don't use orange juice because it doesn't seem to have a significant effect on my bg, but then again I drink unsweetened orange juice so maybe that's why. I always carry glucose tablets with me because they're portable, quick, and don't melt (although you may want to take them out of your pockets BEFORE you put your trousers in the wash!). Regular soft drinks are very good for hypo treatment because they're loaded with sugar (something like 7 tablespoons of sugar in a can I think). Personally though, I just keep a great big bottle of Lucozade in my room because it's quick and easy, and I like to keep my glucose tablets for emergencies instead.
Though I'm rather dodgy in that I see my hypos less as a medical problem than an opportunity to eat some chocolate....

Yep, 7 mg/dL was what I was told it was. I had been sick for a while so it may have been due to the virus I had. I just remember by the time I got to the doctor I was really sick.
It's not uncommon for me to go into the 30's quite often. I sometimes get violent seizures when that happens but I've also had seizures when my blood sugar was around 120 or so.
I have always had a hard time knowing when my blood sugar was low so I've had to use frequent checks of it to make sure things are okay but I can no longer afford to check it as often as I once did. Oh, well.

Don't want to sound insensitive, but funerals are usually more expensive that blood test strips.
Then again, I suppose my experience is different since I usually test about 7-8 times a day but the NHS pays for my strips.

Mine was something like 30 mg/dl. It was not something I would like to repeat. I just felt shaky, light headed, and almost like I was going to pass out at any moment. Scary.

That's exactly how I feel when my BS goes below 67, am1977. Luckily I recognize it and eat something to bring the sugars back up.

Woke up from a nap and ate an apple?!? Many times I've been sitting there thinking everythings fine only to come too several hours later covered in orange juice, or sugar, or Coca-Cola, and sometimes blood, to see I've been in a "nap" for a while. Not a very restful nap either, thanks to low blood sugar. An apple wouldn't help me at all.

It used to take 1/2 tube of glucose to get me out of an insulin reaction. Now a whole tube sometimes won't do the trick. I usually have to use whatever I can get my hands on at the time.

Same story here, you got any idea why that is? I now seem to be in a parrtern of needing to eat loads to get myself up then shooting up and being really high. Does anyone else have this problem? My lowest is 1.2- I was really dizzy and seeing stars!
I had one episode which I thankfully have never, ever repeated. I was so low I went into insulin induced seizure from sleeping into hypoglycemia. I know it had to be lower than 25, because I have been that low again and not repeated the incident.
Not proud of this mistake. But it did happen.

25 was my lowest ever measured.
Just moved, so I don't know where my conversion chart is at the moment.

Can I lend a friendly hand Heather?
Divide by 18 to get mmol.
25 mg/dL = 1.4 mmol.

Alternatively, you can use what I do - About's diabetes conversion calculator - http://diabetes.about.com/library/blforms/blconversioncalc.htm
Just make sure you've set it up to convert whole blood to whole blood.
