About 10 days ago I began a protocol of 35u landus at night and 5u symlin before each meal.

And all of last week up until Saturday I was seeing pre meal numbers between 140 and 270. But I was happy in that the crazy highs I was having before that seemed to have been swept away. I was regularly getting into the 400s and losing weight very fast due to the fat metabolism.

Smelling like nail polish remover wasn't much fun.

But yesterday and quite suddenly it all changed. I began at 104 in the morning and never saw anything higher before meals, and a peak around 170 after dinner. Near normal!

Then today? 92, then 104, then 106 and around 140 90 minutes after dinner.

What I don't get is why the sudden change? I do realize that symlin has made my appetite vanish (and I am glad of it), but it doesn't seem I've changed my diet that much. Have I?

So today I was a normal person BG wise. Probably the first time in a few years as I have been struggling to fight this with what used to work for me: excercise.

I was and still am suffering a little bit of not liking so many injections, but I'll get over it I think. Beats feeling like crud! I even sat and stared at the sharp little gremlins the other day.

Good Deal on the good numbers!! YaY!! :five: Don't know what could explain the sudden change, but it's a good change! Others who take shots say you get used to it, so I'm sure you will too!!

Congrats!!

Congrats and cool pic. I used to make models of spaceships out of them.

You'll get used to the pricks. I can honestly say I have absolutely no hesitation when stabbing myself, but I always did it slowly.

Thanks for the boost.

It is a bit surreal. Note I am coming off of an a1c of 10.6 :(, but if this keeps up, I could get back down below 7.

Awesome work. Lets hope the next A1c shows all the work was worth it.

I'm wondering if the change in BG levels is because of weight loss because the Symilin causes the lack of appetite? It looks like it is doing what we want it to anyway. I am on insulin before each meal and get just plain sick of poling myself once in awhile. But when I see the results of not doing it--I change my mind. I guess we just have to get used to what we have to do and be thankful for the meds that help us.

Congrats on the good numbers. I'm kinda fond of the Symlin myself... :top:

This is really good news. Aren't we lucky to live in time when there is help like that for our diabetes?

How are you feeling at your wonderful new BG levels?

After more than 10 years of battling type 2, I would say I have not lost enough weight to improve insulin sensitivity as yet. But, I am eating better and less too.

I think that and the Landus are what made the difference.

These are amazing drugs, and I would imagine more are on the way. I wasn't so sure about Symlin going in, having tried Byetta more than once, but it seems to really be helping.

And Landus? Amazing to think they come up with a synthetic insulin that meanders for a day then convince bacteria to make it for them.

I am feeling better for sure. I don't quite have the oomph going into exercise that I'd like, but it is getting better. Only takes 5 minutes to get warmed up.

Emotionally, well, we all know much better it feels to see good numbers. And watching my weight fall - currently to a level it hasn't been for over a decade. Granted the first 10~15 pounds of that was emergency fat metabolism and a horrible way to lose weight.

My 48th birthday is just after Thanksgiving, and I always do some physical stunt on that day. I normally ride a bicycle as far as I can regardless of weather, but this year I might walk instead. Should be interesting to see how many bananas it takes to keep me going.
