I usually cover my Sure-T sets with an IV3000. Sometimes I don't bother and today it cost me a set, pulled out by brushing lightly against a piece of equipment in my shop. Note to self: keep using the IV3000 on every set change.

I gotta ask, does it hurt at all to pull out a needle set? I know it sometimes hurts to pull out a plastic cannula, but does the needle ever scrape you or give you any nastiness if pulled out?

No, didn't feel a thing other than a tug on the set. Removing the sets has always been 100% painless.

I have to ask, how do you disconnect if you have the whole set covered with the tape. I do not worry right now about ripping the set out but in the summer where it will be exposed more I know I'll catch it on something. Do you just pull off the tape if you have to disconnect and then reapply the tape?

The Sure T has the tubing connector located 4" from the set, so you can completely cover the set with tape and still connect/reconnect to your heart's content.

Yes I have seen them. I am using the Quick sets right now. That explains it. Thanks

Something in the air? I ripped a silhouette out yesterday. For some reason my pump did not find it's clip and slid down into my arm chair. When I got up ...

I was debating a change anyway. It was new that day and I was running enexplicably high.

I would have just slapped the Sure-T back in and taped it down with some Tegaderm or other dressing.

To use a Tegaderm or an IV3000 with a Quickset all you do is cut a hole in the center of it. Fold it in half and cut a hole the size of the set, BEFORE you take the backing off. After you put the set in, disconnect and place the tape one over the set with the hole leaving the plastic part exposed. Then reconnect. You can disconnect anytime and the tape keeps the set on and dry.

No need; my reservoir was almost empty. :)

I have moved them when I think I'm not getting good absorbtion. i use IV3000--not tegaderm.

That is what I was thinking of doing. Thanks for the confirmation. I will try it next time I need it. My sets have been holding up quite well for the 3 1/2 days I wear them right now. Only had one start to peel on me.

I've moved them when they hurt, and the one time I tried it on my upper butt and didn't get good results. I have not been able to use that area with any set I've tried.

I have IV3000 and Tegaderm (two kinds) and really like Tegaderm better, the hypoallergenic one. Seems to hold better without peeling up anywhere, and doesn't irritate my skin.

I use IV Prep and haven't had any problems. I ripped out one set, but it got caught on the lip of a door.

Didn't rip one, but had to throw one out today. When I was pulling the paper backing off the adhesive (Quick Set) part of the adhesive turned under and adhered to itself. For a few seconds I tried to unstick the silly thing, but gave up and threw it away. First one I've lost (a whole month of pumping) but don't figure it will be my last.
