At 9.05am today I started pumping insulin!!!!!!

So excited. It felt very strange not to have to give a shot at lunch.

Felt strange for about 1 day. I got used to it very quickly. Good luck. Little over 3 weeks for me and it has been great. Little rough sometimes but overall a great change.

I am such an idiot - turns out my first three boluses didn't work as I didn't push the ACT button enough times. I am willing to give some of the credit for this to my CDE as she did the first one and I copied her for the next two - thinking the whole time that it just didn't seem quite right. Looked it up in the book and sure enough I was right.

Ah well it is all ok now.

Hi Miss Jade & congrats to you on starting pump therapy!

Don't beat yourself up over the mistakes....we all make them from time to time. Feel free to ask us any questions you might have. We'll be glad to help when and wherever possible. :)

I've done that - twice in the first week I was pumping. Both times I was in a crowded, noisy situation and didn't hear the little beeps that tell you the action "took". Didn't realize it until my next test was surprisingly high. If you didn't make mistakes how would you learn? How would you REALLY know what you were doing. That's my attitude anyway. I've only left the needle guard on the set one time. Now I VERY carefully take it off. I only put a new set right at my waistline ONCE - and lived 3 days with it right under my waistband. Don't plan to do THAT again! :smartass:

Congratulations!!!! Don't worry about any mistakes, they happen. Actually, if you would like to avoid mistakes in the future, just ask me and I will tell you ALL of them.
