changing battery/animas

Can someone give me a quick rundown--sort of a summary I can print out on how to reset the # units when you change the battery. I had to do it once with lots of insulin left, and it went back to 0. Called animas and they walked me through it (it is not in the book--why I don't know). She said to call back next time and they would do it again because most forget it the first time. But when I had to change it the 2nd time I was changing the insulin and didn't have to. So in short--sort of-- can someone tell me how to change battery and get back to a number of units. Hope I explained that so you could understand what I am asking.

If I am understanding you correctly, when you change the battery the screen says that there is 0 units of insulin in the pump?

In that case, you would just do a rewind and then prime. That should tell the pump how many units of insulin are left in the cartridge. I would imagine that is why you didnt have the probelm the second time.. you would have automatically done a rewind and prime. I think if you leave the pump alone for a few minutes it will come up with that "pump is not primed - no delivery" alarm too.

I could be wrong, let me know if I am. I have changed the batteries in my animas numerous times and have never had to do anything different. =)

Diana is right. When you change the battery it erases the current amount of insulin that is available. All you have to do when you do that once every 4-6 month battery change is act like you are changing the cartridge. In doing so, skip the "fill canula" step and don't "prime" it alot, maybe just one drop, that way you don't waste alot of insulin.

I change my battery every 2-3 months. I've always changed it while doing a cartridge/set change, so I guess I never noticed...
