Anyone knows if there is a way to clear out all the information
in all the history logs of the Cozmo.

I asked Smiths Medical reps and the answer was no.

I want to get all the practice info we put into the pump when we
first got it last week and played with it before starting on it.

Having all the options on the pump and the complete log of every
button press and event, I find it hard to believe they don't have
a reset option (maybe "undocumented" one).

I did let them know I have an issue with that, so maybe they will
get into a new software upgrade whenever they get one out.

Speaking of which - any rumors about when to expect a the new
software version that would include a food database?

I was told it should be out soon by the sales rep., but that was
probably to "help" me decide on their pump (which I'm really
happy with, so far - the whole 3 days that my daughter has been
on it :-))

I can't help you with a reset, but I know that the upgraded pumps are being set to ship toward the end of this month. You can either trade in the pump you have for one with a new color and software, or if you like your color, then you'll have to wait until mid-January to send your pump in and have them do the software upgrade.

There is no way to clear out the history. I started pumping before training and tried to do that. There is no way.

Thanks Rikki,

That sounds great!
Where did you get this information?

I need to call my rep and ask her about it.
Haven't heard about any dates and we got the pump exactly
a week ago.

I talked with my rep last Friday and Renee at the main office on Tuesday of this week. My rep didn't know exactly how they were going to handle the upgrades, other than to know that if you wanted to get the new software, you had to get a new color. However, he hadn't been to the training class yet on the software upgrades, and had just heard the day before about them getting the FDA approval for the upgraded software.

When I spoke with Renee on Tuesday, she told me what I put in my previous post. I was ordering my pump on Tuesday and told her that I didn't want a new color, so to send me the purple and I'd wait until January. :) She would have shipped me the new color/software, but I would have had to wait until toward the end of the month...

If you want to set the configuration back to default, open the CoZmanager software, but don't load your saved settings from disk. This will give you a blank group of settings. Send that to the pump via the IR port and you will be back to default.

But, the data (bg reading, bolus) will stay in memory. I don't know a way to clear it. The only thing it will affect is your averages, but after 30 days, that will all be current information anyways.

I wouldn't worry about that old information.

Congatulations and good luck !

Thanks.

That is what I was told by the rep on the phone.

It is not a big issue. I still think that Cozmo has the most options and
is the most customizable pump and I like that. I just thought there
might be a back door to do what I wanted, that someone would know
about.

In any case, this thread led to important information about an upgrade.
I already left a message to my rep asking for more details about it.

This is a little off topic, but since I suspect all the Cozmo people will read it...

What features are in the new software upgrade? I am happy with my pump now and don't know If I would even be interested in an upgrade. Did I understand that if you want a new color you get a "new" pump but If you like your color ( as I do ) you have to send it in?

2. Deltec Cozmo Pump Improvements: Smiths Medical is making a number of significant improvements to the existing Deltec Cozmo insulin pump. All existing Cozmo users will be eligible for a free upgrade to the new pump. Potential new features include:

· Hypoglycemia Manager: The new Cozmo will suggest specific carb amounts to treat low blood sugars, based on the BG level, the insulin-on-board, and your insulin:carb ratio and usual “correction factor”.

· New colors: Gone are the purple and sky-blue versions. In are “apple green” and a darker blue.

· Weekly Scheduling: Different basal programs and alerts can be programmed for specific days of the week.

· Insulin Replacement when Disconnecting: As an option, the pump can recommend a partial replacement of missed basal insulin before and after disconnection for up to two hours.

· Variable BG Targets: Target blood sugars can be customized by time of day.

· Variable Correction Dose based on BG: Blood sugar correction doses (insulin sensitivity) can be set for higher levels when the blood sugar is extremely high. For example, the sensitivity per unit can be set for 50 mg/dl when the blood sugar is below 300, and 60 when above 300.

· More Custom Boluses: Up to 24 custom boluses (I:C ratios and delivery types) can be pre-set.

· Meal Bolus Setup Option: Insulin-to-carb ratios can be set by choosing the meal by name, or defaulted according to the time of day the bolus is programmed.

· Food Database: A customizable food database of up to 600 items can be entered.

· Backlight Option: The pump can be set to have the backlight on at all times during programming.

· History Presentation: The bolus history is now presented in a “grid” format that includes blood sugars and carbs for easier viewing and analysis. BG history summary also includes standard deviation for assessing variance in control.

· Basal Testing Guidance: During basal testing, the pump provides “coaching” in the form of BG test reminders, warnings to prevent accidental meal boluses/suspension/site changes, and reminders to cancel the test in the event of high/low BGs.

· Timeout Option: The time until the screen times out and returns to “sleep mode” can be prolonged.

· New Clip: A clear hardshell clip can hold the pump when Cozmonitor is not being used.

I am impressed! I had just about made up my mind, but this is awesome. And you don't have to pay 200 bucks for the upgrade. Sold.

Thank you!!

Looking at the list, I would probably make use of about 4 of the features. I like the "less is more" theory. I don't use the Cozmonitor since I like the meter I have always used and don't want to tote the strips around. I already have the new clear clip since my old one developed a crack.

I wonder if getting the upgrade would extend the time left on my warranty?

Just talked to my rep and was told that we are probably looking into
next year for getting the upgrade.

The list of new features sounds great.

My daughter keeps telling me - leave my pump alone and go get your
own $5000 toy to play with. I love Cozmo!

Whoever gets a firm date on the upgrade, or gets the upgrade itself -
please let us know.

I know that it doesn't extend the warranty with Minimed. When you think about it, they would be foolish to extend the warranty. They keep doing upgrades, and don't bring in any new money.
