Does anyone here take Lantus in the morning? I usually take mine at 6 pm, but I'm considering to switching to the morning because my before dinner readings are high. I was wondering if you do take it in the morning, are you blood sugars usually high?

I take in 2x/day - a.m. and p.m. It would cover me in the a.m., but my before lunch and dinner sugars would go up. Lantus doesn't cover me for 24 hours so I had to split my dose.

I don't think it really matters what time of day you inject. I'd suggest you ck w/ your dr first, but it sounds worthwhile to give it a try.

I was taking Lantus in the morning before I moved on to the pump. It was ok, but I guess I expected my blood sugars to even out more than they did. I had more highs than I would have liked.

I was having some evening highs and once decided to try 18 hour intervals for a week. It didn't really work out for me, so I went back to 1x at bedtime.

My son was taking Lantus in the mornings, but they changed him to nights. The doctor said it works better if you take it at night, but she couldn't tell me why. I think maybe she read it in a book somewhere.

I take my lantus at 6pm too. you would have thought if it worked for 24 hours it should be OK to have it at any time. I personally could not take it in the morning, cos I'm upn really early some days and lie in really late others. Good luck

I take Lantus in the morning. Before dinner its usually ok but after dinner it just doesn't go down. I think this is because I'm not very active. After finishing dinner at 6:30 I'm tried and usually just sit around at night.

I inject lantus at 10pm as directed by my doctor. However, im seriously thinking of moving it as my morning sugars always spike between 6-9am. When do you think the best time to inject would be? earlier or later?

I thought it worked 24 hours a day, in which case moving the time of it should not make a difference. Not sure though, probably jkust a case of trial and error to see what works for your body

True, but i did hear that Lantus has a peak after a few hours which you should try and match with the spikes in your sugar levels to smooth them out. Trial and error I guess.

For most people it does work for around 24 hrs.

There's a few of us oddballs out there, though, that it doesn't work like that.

I usually take it around 6 pm. But it seems as though half the time it works and half the time it doesn't . Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to put up with it until I have enough money saved for the pump.

Does anyone here take Lantus in the morning?

So, I guess the question, Oradev, is: Where do you take your Lantus?
For a walk?

Out to breakfast? (be careful of Shy and her Poutine)

Early date?

Jogging?
