Glad to finally have time to post my question!
I have been on the 508 pump since January 2002, and I totally love it! My last a1c before the pump was in the 9s --- only 1 month after starting the pump, I was down to 7.1! Greatly pleased. Now for my question: I have read that you shouldn't do any stomach exercises while connected to the pump, because of the infusion site could be affected by the surrounding muscles. Is this true? If it is, how can I start any kind of crunches or situps to "battle my bulge?" Would I have to do my crunches every 2-3 days the few minutes I am disconnected to change my infusion set? Any suggestions would be wonderful! ----

Hi, I've been "pumping" since March 2001 and I've never had any problems when doing sit-ups or crunches(Admitedly, I've had very few opportunities to do them, but have never had problems). I've been told a few times to stick my infusion set in my thigh sometimes when rotating sites, perhaps you could try doing that? Just my suggestion...

Hi bjanbar
I have been on the pump almost 2 years (508) and have no trouble exercising at all and I am an avid exerciser. You may want to try the soft set if you are having trouble.
I even ride bikes and exercise everday and do a lot of bending over and do sit ups and have not had any trouble so far.
Good luck.
Congratulations on your A1c--I am happy for you.
You can do "anything" on the pump or at least try to LOL

How about putting the site in the hip area. I use to have mine in the stomach area. I like the hip area better, It is out of the way.

And that's my two cents

Thanks, Gina! I'll pay attention to my set when I do the crunches. That's good to know! Haven't tried the quicksets yet - I still am pretty pleased with the soft-sets - no problem with the sof-serter either - goes in very easy. Thanks again!
