Hi guys just want to share this. it's an interesting read and does not sell anything. Ampalaya (Bitter Melon) - Momordica charantia linn (http://ampalayaherb.com/index.htm).

That is the most uglist fruit, plant, Vegetable that I've seen in a long time Mutant half corn half peas in a pod.....LOL... Have you tried eating it yet...?I wonder if it comes in capsules... LOL...

hehehe... yes, the fruit is kind of weird looking...LOL.... we had Ampalaya con carne yesterday and i loved it. A bit bitter but it was great. I have no liking for this fruit but maybe if what they say is true, I might get to like it hahaha... but its great... you should try it once. I soaked the bittermelon in a pan of water for 1 hour after i removed the seeds and cutting it to small pieces ; scrape the whole seeds including the white stuff the seeds are in just leave the green stuff that is the only one you can eat... i almost forgot to scrape the seeds out...LOL... Let me know if you tried it... I will try the other hehehe...

P.S.
Before trying, if you are diabetic, check the ingredients first. I was able to try it with rice because i am not diabetic, my grandma is. If you liked it please let me know i will try other stuff as well. When I joined this forum I actually became interested in cooking. weird hunh?.. =) ...

Capsules? My Grandma is taking the tea form made from it, that is why i'm also reading and researching about this fruit. I think it also comes in capsule form also.

Bitter melon does come in capsules. I have taken just about any herb that was SUPPOSED to lower bs. Tried them all without as much success that I needed. Type 1's don't have great success with herbs.

I'm in the Philippines. And Bittermelon or Ampalaya, as we call it here, can be bought fresh in the market and is always available. I really am a terrible cook though...LOL... i am just learning to cook. My father-in-law does the cooking, he's like the iron chef here in the Philippines =) hahaha.... maybe that is an exaggeration but I really look up to the guy when it comes to cooking, i am learning though... hehehe.. hopefully my wife will like my cooking too in the future...LOL...

I really don't know about herbs efficacy for the T1s and T2s as my grandma just started using the tea 2 months ago...i think... we have yet to see its effect.

as for my relationship with grandma... well i'd say were close... close enough that she can whack me silly if i try to make anything silly while preparing her food... most of the time i get shout at but its always fun when i do something not "normal" sometimes doing a bit of weird things and making her smile or laugh that sure makes it worth the "whacking" i get from her hehehe... she doesn't know i'm just getting even ... LOL... joke. :aetsch:
