UGH!
Eri did go to school yesterday but not today...she was throwing up since about 3am but no ketones.
Took her to her doc yesterday after school...she has "bubbles" in her ears, BUT, she can hear, so that's good. Also, they dx'd here w/ pharyngitis AGAIN, but, being viral, no antibiotics...it just has to run its course(which has been about a year)...
Her bgl's have been either perfect or high...maybe that upped dosage of lantus is doing something(now at 27u instead of the 24)...
She sounds horrid...raspy voice...cough...has a double earache and her nose...it's all stuffed up but she can't get anything out(not to be gross, but she said that since she power puked so bad and it came through her nose as well, she thinks something is stuck...ewww).
Sooooo...she's back to the sleepy state all the time.
It took us over 2.5 hours to get home(when normally about 20 minutes) b/c of the snow and the beautiful sheet of ice all the way home. Thank God my new vehicle has 4 wheel drive. So, since we didn't get out of the docs until about 5, we didn't get home until about 7:45 last night...and she fell asleep, again, when we got home(she was asleep in the doc's office when the doc came in and just looked at her). (Had to take my son for a haircut b/f the doc...my Lord, does that kid have thick hair and a LOT of it!)
I'm getting beyond frustrated with this, but dealing with it. There's a lot of sickness going around anyway. I still feel worn out and I'm closing tonight, so she is stuck w/ her dad.
Anyhow, that's about the gist of what has been going on w/ her.
Even the ped agreed and said Eri definitely needs the pump, which, btw, the endo and the dietician and CDE said we would go over more on the 12th...the dietician was wondering if it was still a go and I told her of course it was. So, we see her next Tuesday anyway and go from there.

OK, shutting up!

That poor girl! Here's hoping the pump will help her out a bit!

So, now what about you? Did you ever get in to see the doctor for yourself?

I don't even know what to say to this :(... I wish I could offer Eri something that would help her, but I'm afraid I don't have the answers (wish I did!)...
All I can say is that I'm pulling for her...

The pump doesn't eliminate all these problems... heck, I have my share of difficult days , but hopefully it will level out her blood sugars a bit and will make life easier for you all.

Hang in there and please tell Eri to keep fighting- much love

Thanks everyone :)
While at work, I got the phone call that she was throwing up what she ate(clam chowder)...and her bgl was almost 500...she took her 27u lantus, and 13u novolog...and b/f she ate, she took 8 units of novolog for food, etc...

Now she's doing a little better, her throat and nose and chest hurt...pharyngitis. Everytime I get that they put me on antibiotics...I wonder if it is b/c she doesn't get a fever that they won't w/ her and consider it a virus instead for her body to fight on its own.
Does that make sense?

Sorry, back again....
Here's an example of Eri's bgl's since dinner: 88mg/dL, 211 at bedtime, HI around 330/4am, HI @6am(today)409 @7:30am, 282@9:30am, 98@noon, 76@1:30, 73@2:30, 88@4, 370@6:30, HI just now(w/ vomitting). She didn't eat or drink a thing until around 5:45...now her bs's are going crazy. It's driving ME crazy b/c no matter how much insulin(she had 50 units up until dinner, then she had her 27u lantus w/ dinner and took 16u novolog...now just took another 12...
WHAT am I doing wrong? She had rotisserie (so spelled that wrong) for dinner w/ less than a scoop of mashed potatoes and she had some cheezits, along w/ a diet pepsi (with her prevacid and regelan). They said to let her drink whatever she wanted(sugar free, of course).

Anyone have any advice? I'm beyond exhausted from checking her every hour and God only knows what the endos will say. Earlier they said to just make sure she was even just SIPPING something and to give her 10 units of insulin(when she was HI this morning), etc...
It's like she needs constant insulin...or some **** virus is really messing w/ her body.

I have to wait for her dad to get home if we have to go to the hospital b/c he has to go to a different hospital b/c a good friends of his, his mom is not expected to make it through the night and she is like a 2nd mother to him(CHF and emphysema).

I really feel like a loser bc of all this. She's missing school b/c of everything and everything is just a mess.
Gosh I hate myself. I know I'm not doing anything wrong but why is her body so stubborn?

Robin, You are NOT A LOSER !!!!!!!! You are a wonderful person and a fabulous mom. You have had so much thrust on you at once and you are holding up and dealing with it all extremely well. We all love you here. Never forget that.

Robin, you are doing SO GREAT! I admire you so much for being so strong in the face of such adversity. You and Eri are in my prayers many times every day. You can do it, I know you can.

Thanks...
Yes, Eri is on prevacid(30mg 2x's/day) and regelan(5mg/3x's/day)...
I could totally tell the difference when she is NOT receiving insulin at least every 1-2 hours. She starts immediately going up. The other thing is she gets a lot worse at night. I know the lantus works over a 24 hour period and she gets it at dinner, but still, the novolog should be working at that time as well.
Just frustrating. I'm sticking to the regimine they gave me to a "T"...actually, taking her bs more than they told me to(I had to decide which readings to give then when I called then in), but I want to just be on top of everything.

Is she possibly taking a steroid? The last time I took one, my blood sugars acted like that. They were high most of the time but if I took a lot of insulin it would sometimes come down into the normal range. Steroids can be in a lot of things you wouldn't suspect.

Robin, I am very sorry to hear that Eri's experiencing problems. :( You and your family remain in my prayers.

Thanks...

No, no steroids at all...just the **** HI's throughout the night and when I checked an hour ago she was at 368(after 45units of novolog throughout the night)...it's like her nighttime readings are completely out of whack, and they have already upped her lantus 5 units w/in a month and have changed her correction ratio...
It's weird...at nighttime her bgl's rise and then she throws up and I'm up all night checking her and then she gets to "normal" readings in the am/mid am, and she's afraid to eat, drink, etc...

Her docs need to pull thier heads out of thier a$$es, have a famlily reunion and figure out what is going on with her, and figure out what to do about it!

Yes, I agree...even the pediatrician agreed saying all the docs need to get together. We see them on Tuesday.

Tonight hasn't been as bad...although she was HI as soon as she ate(even w/ bolusing extra)...but then I gave her more insulin and she is now down to 308(well, was an hour ago)...she should be lower b/c she got another shot.

We went and saw her teachers tonight. The only one who isn't as sure that Eri can and will catch up is her math teacher(b/c math is so hands on). I will take her to Sylvan Learning center if I have to. (or find someone else really good at math...I'm pretty good at it...but then she just gets more lazy w/ me helping her that she tries to pull the "mom, can you just show me how to do that one and then I'll get the next one"...and so on...lil' punk.
They all know about the diabetes. Unfortunately, when I spoke w/ her French teacher, she said she isn't too comfortable w/ Eri going on the Quebec trip...even though I'd be going w/ her. I told her that's fine, I will hopefully be taking the kids up there this summer for a little vacation b/f I head to FL for a while. Eri is really bummed b/c she was REALLY looking forward to that trip, but I think it will be better w/ the kids ALL going w/ me.

At least Eri was able to eat dinner...salmon was her request w/ mashed potato and green beans. She has the weirdest cravings after getting sick(like craving either "dunky" eggs or deviled eggs RIGHT after getting sick...bleck!
I know she's still a little hi b/c she's on this rearranging/cleaning kick(she ALMOST gets OCD about it...like in the hospital, she'll totally clean the room, remake the bed a few times, etc...)...(I keep getting distracted w/ the kids bringing up Christmas decorations(Eri collects Nutcrackers and they are getting all those now)...I've got to get her to sit down and test again...

I'm shuttin' up...promise!
