Customs Letter for Travel

Hi All,

I am due to travel to Thailand and Malaysia via the United Arab Emirates in just over three weeks time. When travelling in Europe I carry a customs letter from my doctor saying that I am allowed to take insulin, syringes e.t.c. onto the plane.

I would like to get my customs letter converted in to Thai, Malay and Arabic for my trip, but so far my attempts to contact translators have been unsuccessful.

Is anyone able to give me any advice or help me out on how and where I can get these letters converted?

I would think that whomever your trip has been arranged through, should be able to assist with this. Surely you aren't the first person to need such a service.

You might need official translations. Have u tried to call the Diabetes UK helpline to see what they know? They were communicating a lot around the subject when security at airport went crazy last summer. It's worth tryin.

when i went to Paris, my dad found a translator at the airport and the described the letter so i had no trouble going through customs

I have yet to meet a customs official who couldn't speak English. It's probably in their job description. "Diabetic" is almost exactly the same word in just about every language I've looked it up for and that's as much as I've ever needed to communicate anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I spoke to Diabetes UK yesterday and they're sending em some literature through that states I have diabetes in the relevant languages and tells me how to pronounce it.

Hopefully this should be fine along with my customs letter.
