OK here is a possible tip for some AND a question for others.

Every day take a daily multi-vitamin. A few months ago I ran out of vitamins and life goes on...I stopped taking them. After a while I noticed that my blood sugars were getting higher and not making sense - even though I was eating the same and doing the same amount of activity. I did a self check to see why this might be happening... The only thing that had changed was that I stopped taking a daily vitamin.
Once I purchased more and a few days went by...
all back to ...lets call it "Normal".

I try to eat a balanced diet but with the limitations of pushing my blood sugar through the roof - eating all that each day is not a possibility. So there is one reason I take a multi. But keeping better control
Theres a real good one!!!

I have read all sorts of information about Vitamin-E, Vitamin C, Chromium, Manganese, Boron and Zinc(the list goes on and on) but
I am sold on taking a daily vitamin after getting so frustrated with blood glucose numbers jumping all over the place. :shot:

Has anyone else had an experience like this?
and also what brand Multi Vitamins do you use?
I used to use Theragran-M now I moved to Centrum.

I just started taking the Diabetes Nutrition daily pack that you can get at Wally World... Don't know if they are helping or not just yet, but they taste nasty!

If your going to use supplements I would recommend Centrum....most supplements and daily vitamins are not regulated by the FDA and contain other things that are not on the label. Also if you are eating a balanced diet and don't have some health problem where you can't absorb certain vitamins then you don't need to take any supplements. You will get plenty to meet your needs through food.

I take one-a-day Mens Health formula. I take a fish oil, flaxseed oil, C, ALA, benfotiamine every day. every other day I alternate between a one-a-day and a cod liver oil cap

Hi KMP:
I, too, noticed that after I ran out of multi-vitamins, BS starting creeping up (just a few points). This resolved when I started back on my vitamins.
I take One-A-Day for Women, along with 1000 mcg chromium piconolate and 2 cinnamon tablets twice daily. Guess i'll keep an extra bottle in the cupboard so as not to run out.

Hi Princesslinda
I was thinking about taking chromium piconolate until I read a few studies that claimed there were some long term side effects. It's been a while and I remember I just googled "chromium piconolate side effects" but seems to me it wasn't the chromium but the piconolate that was causing the problems. You might want to check it out because I may have dreamed it all the way my mind is lately. :)

That's really interesting. I just started taking daily vitatmins (centrum) and I've noticed that I seem to have more energy...I'll be watching my numbers now to see if it's helping there, too. I started them because I'm fairly certain I don't eat enough, but I just can't seem to cram anymore in unless I put it in my pocket, and what goods that going to do?? I'm hoping it will fill the gap, so to speak.

If I knew what to eat to keep from having my blood sugar numbers go up when I ran out my vitamins - I certainly would eat whatever it took. But seriously I have no idea what vitamin or mineral that helps my blood sugars.
I was out of vitamins for 3 or 4 weeks and my blood sugars jumped up an average of 20-30 points - (when taking vitamins my average stays around 115 when I ran out of vitamins it jumped to 140.
If I can keep numbers like that from happening I will stick with taking a daily vitamin to "fill the gap"
I Hope someone else can benefit from my experience. :king:

I take a woman's multi vitamin (walmart brand) every morning and haven't noticed any difference with BS #'s at all.
