I made it to the Bonus Round in life. I really did. If I were my grandfather (at my age, back then) I would be dead, dead, dead. If I were my father (at my age, back then) things would not be real shiny. So here I am, playing the game with an intensity I never thought I had, against players with a huge advantage.
This Bonus Round is freakin' tough. I gotta' be on my game every **** minute. I gotta' have my tools, I gotta' think ahead, I gotta' be better than the average Joe just to make it to sundown. Unplug that pump and walk away? Game's over in a few days. Play careless with a bolus? Take out a spectator AND kill myself. This game is serious tough.
But you know what? The intensity is awesome. I listen to music louder, and enjoy it more. I drive faster and love it - reverse road rage - road bliss! I get up at 4:00 AM, even on my days off. I fall in bed exhausted every day, and like it.
I give people sh*t when I used to be polite, and heap praise on the honest and hard-working. I out-think my peers and gift the homeless. All of which bring an ear-to-ear grin to my face.
So in the Bonus Round, I have to get the answers correct every time - no room for error. The "questions" come hard and fast, and so far I'm winning. I wonder what my adrenaline levels are. Am I just on an endorphin high? Is this "Living on Borrowed Time Syndrome?"
Whatever it is, this living in the Bonus Round, it kicks ***! Bring it on!
