View Full Version : I think that we should put all the scientists that are doing all this research and:

Add as many to the list as you want.
1. Throw as much money as possible at them and let them follow any paths of interest that they want. (Maybe a bio-dome)
2. Encourage them to procreate and make more smarter little scientists.
( Maybe we can get a cure at least for the next generation)

3. work with the Chicago Project on a cure. They're acutally trying to get researchers to work together to expediate things on an international level. but them i'm biased, :)

I still don't think that project is the answer since the success rate isn't that high and the drugs required are just as much to take if not more expensive at first. Therefore harder for those that don't have as good of an insurance coverage to fully cover. I do think the project is a great idea, just not the full answer unless it can be done WITHOUT anti-rejection drugs on any level.

Jedi, they're working on getting fda approval for human trials of encapsulated islets. The goal is by 2009 I think. Encapsulating islet will eliminate the need for anti rejection drugs. The Chicago Projects site has more info on it.

Here is an interesting story I came across:

Unfortunatly the mice model / rodent model rarely transfers to the human model. This is one of Faustman's (THE premier leader in diabetic research imo) biggest hurdles.
Also there needs to be Global Project Management for a cure. My life plan is to be this project manager. To often scientist repeat work, and try to claim it as new. As far as the encapsulation technique I believe Microislet has the best answer. Their new CEO, Dr. Gavin (former president of th ADA as well, not to mention NUMERous exceptional credentials) is making excellent strides. It hasn't been mentioned yet and have no clue what they will be doing, but after their primate results I think their best route is having Diabetics inject these cells on a regular basis, like once a week. It would be the biggest new therapy to hit market since insulin.
I do not agree that scientists should just be thrown money to do whatever they want. They need to be held accountable; for sound of mind projects. Throwing money around without accountablity and results is just; well just give it to me :). Procreate to make more scientist?

Hey, I love all the links to the research, BUT This is a listing thread. I know there are many creative thinkers in this forum. To burrow a line from another thread.
"LET'S GET CREATIVE"

4. Give an insane amount of money to the members of the team that cure it---TAX FREE.
