I forgot if I did my injection before tea.I've done it now,but not sure if that was my 2nd dose.Time will tell.

FYI,I did 24 units so if there is an error then Ive done 48 units and it will be munch time, lol.

Neil, have you thought about making some sort of chart to leave next to your glucometer?? These mistakes could be dangerous... What happens if you are home alone and have a severe hypo?? Make a chart of some sort, keep it with your meter, and mark off your shots next to your bg. Its not hard, and you'll soon get into a habit...

Just tested 2 hrs after food I'm reading 146(8.1),so made right decision to inject.

I'm pretty sure I did my injection twice now,2nd hypo this evening at 11.05pm(3.5).

Oh joy.

Time to do something to make sure you remember...

Its NOT a trivial error.

eak! i forgot to bolus for my tea last night as well!! I had my dinner and intended to inject afterwards... then just forgot!

The weird thing is... my bg's iddn't rocket! I only got to 8.something ... as far as my meter is concerned... so i didn't feel the need to inject... i only went down after that.
We had mostly salad and chicked for dinner, a couple of small boiled potato's...

Gotta love honeymooning, eh?

**** yeh, lol

I just hope i can maintain good control when it's over... surely it's just a matter of finding your new ratio's and stuff...
Im guessing it'll happy gradually...?

It'll get harder, Stu. With the honeymooning, you've got beta cells that are actually producing insulin and are responding to your BGL. Right now, you're getting to enjoy a fuzziness with your ratios that the post-honeymooners don't have. If you inject too little insulin, the beta cells that remain are able to make up some or all of the deficit in what you calculated. If you inject too much insulin, your beta cells stop producing your own native insulin, protecting you some from hypoglycemias. Your working beta cells provide some variance in your overall basal rate that you wouldn't see with post-honeymooning and the flatline of Lantus.

It's been too long for me to remember if it was gradual or fairly sudden with the end of the honeymoon, but I know now that I don't think I was adequately prepared for how much more difficult it became.

Neil...

Please be careful! I mean what if you didn't realize that you may have taken an additional injection- that could be a BIG problem.

In a way I'm glad that I'm a pumper, b/c I can see what my last bolus was... Otherwise I'd probably be in the same boat :s:. My memory is like a sieve..

Do continue testing and make sure you have food with you at all times.

Takecare :)

And that's 90% of dealing with diabetes - you're well on the right track mate, here's hoping that finding your ratios again when you need to will be easy.

I was having trouble remembering if I injected or not, too. I got a small dish, long enough to hold my syringes and placed it where I always do my injections (on my computer table). Now every time I inject, I put the syringe/novolog needles in it. After my last injection of the day, I empty the dish into my big container. That way, I always know how many injections I have had for the day. It might be worth a try, I did it after I injected twice and was up all night fighting lows.

Thanks for that Penny,I've started a little system of my own using strips of paper in my blood machine.Working well so far.

The Innovo does that, I think that's what it's called. Induo does too. Induo has been disconntinued. I don't know about Innovo.
