I was just wondering how many of you on here also have PCOS and Are/WERE Insulin resistant at some point. I know a couple of you have already mentioned this...sorry to bring it up again...
I was just curious if i have a better chance of having PCOS because i am insulin resistant also?my sis in law has it and i do seem to have Some of the same symptoms as her...not all just some...
I go see my GYN in Jan so i will ask her then i was just curious if this may be more common for me...or if it is something i may already have...

Tricia
I've heard it's more with the Type 2 women because the majority down here are Type 2 ... I hope you don't have it... Yes, I've heard it's started with my Insulin resistant Body...
One of the posts recommended seeing a reproductive endocrinologist... Down, here I just have to find one that is on our HMO...
Good Luck...

I've got PCOS and insulin resistance (IR) was a MAJOR marker. I was dx'ed originally because of my "cystic" ovaries. 3 years later, they (the reproductive endos) decided to *finally* do the GTT/IR test and I failed. Badly.
If you have insulin resistance as well as some of the other PCOS markers, then you most likely have PCOS. Google PCOS and you'll get tons of sites with information on other markers.
I've got the IR, cystic ovaries, carrying extra weight around the abdomen, thinning hair, high cholesterol... However, my period is normal and I ovulate normally.
