Hi every body, I have heard about the "long-time glycemic memory" theory in type 1 diabetes which states that the reduction in risk of complications from long term intensive insulin therapy in type 1 diabetes persists despite increasing blood glucose. i wonder if it works vise versa and having a high blood glucose in my early years of diabetes have adverse effects on my body despite very good control i have now over my diabetes (Type 1 for 21 yrs, HbA1C:6.5%).

I mean if you have good glycemic control for some times (HbA1c<7%), even if you lose control over your diabetes afterwards, you still have less chance of getting complications because of the "memory" of the good control you had in those years. i want to know whether the same thing works for high blood glucose too.
