I have quite bad hay fever, dust allergies, etc. which I have to take Antihistamines for - I was only diagnosed in October, so do you think it is ok to take them this Summer.

Type 2 - Metformin 3 x daily.

Love Linda:)

I'd have said that it probably is. If not then their must be something similar you could take instead. (Not entirely sure though, cos Im type1) The pharmasist might be the best person to ask.

There's also drugs available by prescription that target certain specific allergies, so you might also want to talk to your doc about your options.

I seem to be having allergies all of a sudden for the first time in my life, and currently I'm taking Benedryl which is helping and doesn't seem to be having any effect on my b/s.

I'm type 1 and don't notice any impact on bg of Allegra or Flonase.

Antihistamines can raise blood pressure, so if you have high blood pressure, you should avoid them.

Actually, it's decongestants that raise your blood pressure, not antihistimanes (I've been banned from decongestants for years for that very reason). The same appointment my doc diagnosed my Type 2, he also refilled my perscription for Nasacor, so at least that seems to be ok, and I've taken Benydryl, and double checked the instructions just to be sure. As always though, that's why we have Pharmacists ;)

It must be the region we live in!!!

only a fall and spring sufferer. Fall due to the mold in schools when we first go back to work and of course spring when everything (something) is in bloom. But both are short lived thank goodness.

All year round here :( Enough different things on my allergen list that I'm never completely free. It does tend to change around though. This is "Sneezy" season, as opposed to "runny" season in the early winter, and "sinus infection' season in the height of winter.

I've never been tested for allergies. Same thing happens every year so we just treat it the same. Good to have a friend who's husband is an allergist...FREE samples.

I was tested as a kid (that is NOT a fun test)... mold, mildew, pollen and pet dander are my "official" allergies.

I'm also quite aware that sawdust (growing up, my dad was a woodworker), varnish, insecticide, paint and the like will also trip them off. Oh, and perfume. Perfume is evil! (sorry gals)
