My first A1C was done the week of 10/20/06 when I was diagnosed. It was 14.2. I just had another done.. and it was 7.9.. in 8 weeks. I think the test takes into account the last three months.. so that means it covers 12 weeks and I have only been diagnosed for 8. I think it will be even better once I have one that covers a three month period whenI have been in treatment. I feel pretty good about this.

Very Good. Kept up the good work.
But the 7.9% is a true reflection of your control not a partial one. Blood cells do on the average last for about 12 weeks, but the degree of hemiglobin glucosalation constantly, if slowly, changes with the ambient amount of blood glucose so the resulting percent saturation reflects about a 6 to 8 week period.
The meaning of the A1C result is often mis-explained.
