Any ladies here have a problem with constant yeast infection that doesn't go away? No matter how many times i take diflucan or monostat it comes right back even with good control. It is such a burden.
Sorry guys, didn't mean to grose you out....
A common problem with women who are newly diagnosed, or who haven't yet achieved good control. How are your BG levels? a1cs?

I had a similar problem until I got things in control....it's not as constant now, but it still happens if I have a few highs, or get stressed out....seems like it's easier to happen since I've had D for sure.
My endo told me that eating yogurt (with active cultures) helps, and I've found that she's right. I've found that if I eat it every day I don't have many outbreaks of the nasty stuff.
Sorry I can't help more. I know what a burden it can be.

Thank you ladies for the feedback.
My A1C was 8.0 last month. Not so good.
Before it was around 7.0.
I probably have to really really contorl my BG. It is not perfect but it is not horrible.
I think my pH is super sensitive down there that even 1 high can just aggrivate it.
I am not a big fan of yogurt but i think i will try to eat it every day and see if there are any results.
Thanks again!

I went through a phase of constant yeast infections some years ago, and even with good control, I kept getting them and still do. There are other factors that can spark them off even when you are in good control. Some ladies get constant UTIs and some ladies get constant yeast infections. It also just takes one high or stressful time to set it of for me, I think there are just some of us who are very sensitive.
I tried using the Monistat creams for a long time until they didn't work any more. Then my docs tried me on the Diflucan pill, and that worked the first few times. I didn't know what to do when the Diflucan stopped working, so I looked into all the alternative & home remedies out there (yogurt, etc). None of those really worked for me - I eat plenty of the acidophilus yogurt these days and it doesn't help.
But here's what one of my old gynos suggested to me: boric acid. You can buy a bottle of it in powder form over-the-counter at most pharmacies and then buy some empty gelatin capsules and basically make your own suppositories. You may have to ask for the boric acid because sometimes they hide it behind the counter (it's been used as a poison in food). That should tell you it's a pretty potent chemical, so you definitely want to wear plastic gloves when you make them. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it! Make up a bunch at a time and then just use one capsule like you do the Monistat and I am positive it'll clear up fast! Some docs have recommended one capsule a night for two weeks, but in my experience, I only ever need to use one capsule for one night and then the infection clears up over the next few days.
Good luck! I hope this helps you out, I know how aggravating it can be!

Hi jen slc,
Wow, thanks for the advice. I will look into boric acid. But if it is used in food posioning then is it safe to use it down there? It kind of sounds scary but if it works then it's definatly worth trying.
My gyno recommended me to use plain yogurt and smother it on a maxi pad before going to bed...First of all, that didn't work and secondly...it was grose!
But i will try eating it everyday to see if it will clear up.
Is there anything we can do to get rid of this? It is driving me crazy and plus, these medicines are not cheap... (I have been having this problem for almost 5 years!!) Grrr...Having it is stressing and stress is not good!
Once again, thank you so much for the advice!

The thing that worked for me was wearing cotton only, white panties. I can't wear any of the fancy, nice, sexy ones, because they can't be bleached. I found that if I was able to bleach my undies, then I didn't get the infections as often. Apparently the hot water and bleach really do kill germs! LOL
As for the OTC medications, they never worked for me at all... :(
Oh, and one more thing, if you have a partner, make sure that he's treated while you are treated. Typically men won't get yeast infections from us, but it can happen and they won't even notice it! So, have him treat himself for it too, just in case. Also, after any "sessions" make sure that you urinate. That will help to keep you from letting the yeast migrate other places and prevent a UTI.
I might try that boric acid thing too, though I don't know if they'll sell it to someone who looks like they'd like to kill their kids!

i went to walmart and got that creme for it, and i havnt had one since.
im having my problems with yeast infections under my skin folds tho
i constantly have to use medicated powders
ooo that reminds me, see if you can put that medication johnson and johnson powder in your underwear before putting them on??

Wow, thanks for the advice. I will look into boric acid. But if it is used in food posioning then is it safe to use it down there? It kind of sounds scary but if it works then it's definatly worth trying.Boric acid is quite safe to use down there. It's an antifungal and antiseptic and it's only poisonous if you take it internally or inhale it, and even then you'd have to be exposed to a fairly large amount of it. All it does down there, my best guess is, is kill off the yeast, I can't think of any biological harm that it could be doing to the cells down there, but so far I have no problems! I trust my gynos when they recommend it after precription drugs fail. It shouldn't be a worry since it doesn't get into your GI or respiratory tract.
Is there anything we can do to get rid of this? It is driving me crazy and plus, these medicines are not cheap... (I have been having this problem for almost 5 years!!) Grrr...Having it is stressing and stress is not good!I've been like this for 10 years... for me there's nothing to prevent these infections except being in fabulous control, stress-free and sex-free 100% of the time. Yeah right!!! I would definitely recommend the boric acid, I still have the one little bottle of powder I bought years ago, it lasts forever, and I think it was only $10 or so. A much cheaper alternative to the prescription drugs! It hasn't prevented infections for me, but it's the one thing that gets rid of them, at least.

Try no panties at night if you're not medicating and don't need a cover. Letting everything breathe over night can help.
I also as many here have, been experiencing yeast infections for a looong time..
i find that if you are goong to treat the infection, make sure you clean ALL of your underwear as someone else here said. It helps to stop cross contamination.

You can actually get something like Canesten but instead of a cream it's a pill. Can't remember the name but I heard it comes under diff names.
I came down with a yeast infection after my hysterectomy. It wasn't advisable to use anything down there so I was prescribed this pill. 24 hours and it was GONE. Yay!!!
If it happens again I'm gonna go for the same treatment. No mess. Just a pill.
