Still sick?

Ok so last week i was really sick i mean my throat hurt soo bad and i had a slight fever and a runny nose....went to the doctors who said i had a nasty infection in me.....Gave me antibiotics and Codeine to help my cough last week and told me by new years i would be feeling better....i offically ended my antibiotics on Wednesday and I still feel like ****...im coughing soo bad that my head and my stomach hurt..i get hot/cold flashes..and all i want to do is crawl in a nice warm bed....and my cough sounds nasty....i actually sound worse now than i did before....and my bgs are all over the board here...

question is do you think i should go back to the doctors? or just let this all pass? my mom says i am over reacting....but last year i had strept throat and still continued to cough even after my meds were done and a month later i had broncitis.....i dont know what to do...has anyone on here gotten worse before they got better?

Sounds like you're having a rough time of it...Hope you get to feeling much better soon.

Sounds like all of your head congestion has drained into your lungs and you probably have a touch of bronchitis.

Having worked in doctors' offices for years, here's what we would ask:
Are you feverish? Is your cough productive? What color is the sputum? If it is greenish, you probably have an infection and need more/different antibiotics so you should see the doctor. If you have a fever that isn't controlled by tylenol, you should see the doctor.

It may be that the first antibiotic wasn't strong enough or only controlled the upper respiratory symptoms and you need something else to help with the lower respiratory symptoms. This being said, if you have a viral type infection, antibiotics wouldn't help anyway. I would go to the doc and have a CBC drawn and to make sure all is well.

Be sure and drink lots of fluids to help thin out all the mucus.

I would absolutely go back if you are feeling worse. I came down with a wierd swollen throat thing last Friday. I went to the doc and also was diagnosed with an infection. I started the Augmentin and felt much much better by the next day. I know all infections are not the same, but perhaps you need a different type of antibiotic.

Go back if you feel worse. That is a long time to feel so "crappy".

Tricia sounds like I have the same thing. My BG's have been high in the 180"s and 140"s but I'm on the pump, I should have been in the 400's being sick.

I took antibiotics too the ones you take 2 the first day and 1 a day for the next 4 days. These did help but I'm still winded. This crud went straight to my lungs.

1 Started with a headache for 3 days

2 Started dry coughing at night

3 Nose started running

4 Throat started hurting

5 Fever

6 Started almost drowning from the drainage at night while sleeping.

This started about the 21st December.

Did I mention felt like I was drained of all energy.

Tricia, do hope you feel much better soon. You surely need to go back and the doc may likely put you on another round of antibiotics. I know that if that infection gets a foothold on you, that's probably what will be done. I had bronchitis last year that I had to take 2 different antibiotics to get over it.

It was some nasty stuff. :(
There is something going around.. I have luckily escaped so far without getting it. My son however was so sick. He had 103 temp, I took him to doc and they said it was his tonsels. Let us know and again, hope ur better soon :)
