I actually went in to a chat tonight and it was cool.
I'm still trying to find my way through this site.
it's not too user friendly....but the people here are!
It's great to be able to talk to someone with the same disease, it
makes it less scary!
I'm t 2 and not happy @ it!
I had my first major B.S. drop yesterday and it scared the bee gee bers out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I learned that I need to take Dextrose tabs with me and keep them in my purse!:albertein

Welcome to the forums!

Not sure how it's not user friendly... but you will get the hang of it... it's a peice of cake! (no added sugar, of course!)

I'm not sure about people with type 2 but I always try to keep a glucose meter and glucose nearby because I sometimes pass out VERY quickly.

lgvincent, you must be a pretty bad brillte diabetic?
So far, I've only had the one bad episode...thank God!
How often do you check the forum here? I only check a few time a week.
Still not too sure how to navigate it.

Dar, I'm with LG on that one...

I ALWAYS have my glucometer, hypo kit and insulin on me...

maybe its years of experience, maybe we both are brittle...

but it is a good idea to have something with you at all times. Sometimes hypos can come on without warning, as you discovered...

I guess I should start to be more careful....
I'm reluctantly new at this! maybe I should say somewhat in denial

Hi There Dar :)

Welcome 2 the friendliest forum on the net. I am also type 2 & do sometimes forget to carry my stuff with me :( But in my old age I am getting better in remembering. You should have a journal to keep your bs's in & if you have a hypo experience jot down what caused it so if it happens again you will have an idea why & how to prevent them.

I find the "New Posts" link the most useful.

I haven't carried dextrose tabs in a dog's age. :sheep: I can't stand the things. If I have to consume sweets, I'll at least take something I like. Tonight was a chocolate chip cookie. :mmm:

I'd like to carry a peppermint patty....but wouldn't that cause a peak and valley syndrome?
I'm really a novice...I need this forum to educate my self!
I appreciate all info that I get!

Absolutely! Then you could bolus more, go low again, and have another one:banghead:

Anyway you do it, you need self control. You obviously have it.

I often throw out half of small juice bottles.

you said your a 31+ vetarin....of Diabetes? wow...you were young when you get it!
When I was Diagnoised a few months ago, I went to the pharmacy to pick up my supplies and the pharmacist gave me a huge bag full of samples of all kinds!
It was like going trick or treating! lol
He gave me the Dextrose tabs....I haven't taken any yet...so I have no idea what they tast like. When I had my first hypo eppisode, of course....the tabs were at home on top of my dresser!!!!!!! Good huh?
When I went to the store, I check and I was 147...less than one hour, is when I got hypo and when I got home and tested, I was only 87!
Does that happen a lot??? It scared me!!!!!!!!!! BIG TIME!
