For the first time since DX I am going to eat what I want! Making chinese food for dinner. My total carb will be 120. I have just needed to start taking novolog with meals so even though I used to use the novolog occasionally as needed, I am figuring myself out. My ratio is 1:35 SO, I thought I would take 3u now, and since I also need a correction (.34), I will just take the remaining .42 later if needed. Sound right?:eating:

Nope. I'd be looking at 16-20u. But if it works for you, that's all that matters.

Good luck.:flowers:

For me, if I was eating 120 carbs at dinner, I'd take 10 -12 units. Chinese foods always a hard one to pin down. Good luck!

Watch your numbers closely, test before and during and after and a little while after that! Chinese food always makes me need an extra few units, plus 2 or 3 extra units about 2 hours after I've eaten to catch the delayed rise.

However, if you're MAKING it, that's probably a whole different thing. At least you know what's it in and you're probably making a healthier meal than any restaurant would.

ENJOY!!

I always thought Chinese food was OK, just vegetables and meat as long as you go easy on the rice. Although the items with breading have got to be horrible.

Precisely my experience with chinese. Not much trouble at all, yet at least. Now, if only donuts and chocolate and bagels and pizza were as easy as chinese.

Chinese food to me is rice, chow mein noodles, sweet and sour pork, honey garlic spareribs, breaded almond chicken, maybe some breaded chicken balls etc.! Hahaha! Sooooo fattening! (but delicious!) Very hard to carb count - all the breading, deep-fat frying, and sweet sauces! (Oh ya - I forgot to add the spoonful of veggies that I'd take just so I wouldn't feel guilty!:)) Sure don't have it very often, for numerous reasons!

id take 6 units for 120g carbs of novorapid.

but it's what works for you is all that matters here! All you can do is experiment and figure it out.

It would help to write down what you eat and what you try insulin wise... log it, it will help you figure out what to do the next time you have that meal.

I had PF Changs last night. It was marvelous. Blood sugars were beuatliful. I love fine chinese cuisine.
