Hello everyone,

I have just joined and thought I should quickly introduce myself ...

I am type 1, diagnosed 5 years ago. I live in Liverpool, UK. Have not been controlling my diabetes too well recently so am now trying hard to get back on track - hoping that the forums will give me help and advice if and when I need it

Hi neb, glad you found us!!! I am also happy to hear that you are going to take control of your diabetes. I made that choice about six years ago and I have never felt better. Congrats!

Thanks for all the welcome messages!

I've been going through the forums reading lots of interesting posts which already seem to be helping me. Many of my questions have been answered and I no longer feel so alone. I don't know anyone else who has diabetes and although friends try to take an interest and understand, they just don't get it!!

I look forward to getting involved and gaining much better control!!

Hiya Neb, you joined the right place for help and support. One thing to remember, the better control you maintain the less problems you are likely to encounter in years to come. No, your friends won't understand or your family either for that matter, but I would suggest that you teach them as you learn. i.e. if you get a hypoglycaemic attack it would be useful for friends and family to know what to do in such a situation. You'll probably learn a lot more here than you would from books or doctors and nurses.
