Hi to everyone
Sorry I am new to this, but I am here because I am seeking help from others that may have the same problem as I do. I am a type 2 diabetic, meds are metformin and glyburide which i take twice daily. But my sugar level is still over 200. My doc says not to worry buttttttttt I do. No matter what I do it stays high. I have lost around 35 lbs and its still up. I watch what I eat do exercise and nothing is helping so far. Personally its to the point that I cant sleep or enjoy life because of this problem....I am at my witts end. :dong:

how long you been on the meds, it does take several weeks to see results, ive lost 49 lbs in just 3 months, and if you've been on the Metformin longer they may just need to up the dosage. dont worry youll be fine... i was a worry wort too in the beginning but you will be fine.

Welcome aboard. I think you'll find all sorts of great info here.
I know you must be frustrated that your levels haven't came down quickly as you'd like.

I'm on metformin 500 mg 2 x daily. The doc said it took a few weeks to get optimum results from it, so maybe your levels will improve as time goes by. I would definitely contact my doctor however, if the levels don't improve soon.

Are you avoiding bread, pasta, potatoes...all those good Southern foods? Lower carbs will help you better control you blood sugars. Also, do you get any exercise? I know it's hard to stay motivated, but i've really tried since my diagnosis in Aug/06.

There are so many different type meds you can take, so I urge you to keep your doctor posted on your levels, so you can get the best care possible.

Again, welcome:shakehand

As Princesslinda mentioned.........watch what you're eating, especially your carbohydrate intake. Congratulations on your weight loss thus far!

Hi KYWoman, you are most welcome. You don't say how long you are on the Metformin. If ever you are not happy with anything ask your doctor to explain exactly what your numbers should be and how long before they should reduce to normal levels. If you're not happy with the answers get a second opinion.
