What is your favorite piece of exercise equipment? Why?

Although my favorite exercise routine is weight training, my favorite piece of exercise equipment is the HealthRider. It gives a good mix of cardio and resistance for an overall workout.

Mine right now is a dvd. Its called Walk away the pounds. You use weights while you walk away those pounds. The tread mill was getting old fast.

I just joined CURVES fitness and like most of the equipment but my favorite one would be the one that you lift the weights from your ankles and it works you muscles in your legs. Sorry don't know the name. Any body want to guess the least favorite!

Belinda,

My assistant at work has been going to Curves for a few months now and loves it. She says they have a great program. She particularly likes the fact that it is women only.

I'm not familiar with their equipment so I have no clue what piece would be your least favorite. Don't tell too quickly, keep us in suspense!

An active job which would include walking, climbing, and lifting. Nothing beats getting paid for exercising!

What is your favorite piece of exercise equipment? Why?

Most favorite piece of exercise equipment is a golf club. Walking 5.5 miles/8-10Km pulling 30-40 Lbs/13-18Kg with the temperature in the 85-110F--30-44c is an extraordinarily enjoyable way to Rip the weight off and build stamina and muscle tone. Full-body low-impact aerobic work-out that takes anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours to complete. :D And, a great plus to my way of thinking, you are forced to eat while doing this exercise

2nd piece of equipment is the Health Rider--can use it in any weather 'cause it's in the house--just don't use it enough

Hey Belinda,

I have been going to Curves for a little over a year, I love it. At my club we call it the quad/hamstring machine. My favorite is the squat machine, most people hate it because it is so hard to do, but it has lifted my buttocks and made them shapelier. When I started I didn't know I was diabetic so I wasn't eating right. Even while eating wrong I turned 15 lbs of fat into muscle. But I didn't see anything come off the scale nor go on the scale. You know, that whole muscle weighs more than fat thing. Now that I know I'm diabetic and I'm eating healthy, I'm finally starting to see the scale come down. I'm so much stronger than I used to be I surprise myself all the time. I actually crave to go to Curves. Too bad you don't live just a little bit closer, I would love to have a partner.

rzrbks,

I was beginning to think that I was the only one that ever bought a HealthRider! I've never run across anyone else. No worries about not using it enough, I got mine in about 1994 and haven't come close to wearing it out.;)

Just purchased one of those mega-jumbo inflatible exercise balls. Blew it up with great anticipation. It's now serving the purpose of being a health hazard by semi-blocking our entrance-way. Also purchased a 10 pound medicine ball to go along with the mega-jumbo ball, which the ferrets have found amusing to tumble over.

... but I still have great plans! lol

Angie,

Well if nothing else, you are providing exercise and entertainment for the ferrets.;)

When you do get around to using the Swiss ball, it is great for abdminals. I have seen a number of articles detailing the use of the medicine ball. It appears very useful too.

Belinda,

One of the things that kept my assistant from going to a gym was a guy that used to work with us. She would overhear him talking about the women he saw at the local spa. Her husband heard the same kind of stuff where he worked. My assistant is good as gold, but not a very outgoing person. The 'loose' talk made both her and her husband very uncomfortable. Growing up she was never allowed to play sports or anything, so physical activity is something she has learned later in life.
