Hi! my daugher is 11 and was diagnosed with type 1 on 12/17/06. We thought she had the flu and was dehydrated so we took her to the ER, she was then lifeflighted to the hospital with DKA. We have no history in our family of diabetes so the dx has come as a shock. She is adjusting well and is taking everything in stride. Looking back I can see the symptoms of diabetes. I am just glad that she is back to her old self, I can deal with a few injections and carb counting.

So much information and support here. Sorry you had to join us. My daughter was diagnosed just before yours on 12-4-06 she is 6. This place is great becuase you can ask a question any time of day and cry your eyes out at the same time, and we all understand.

Hi Lockwood, welcome to the forums. I am sorry your daughter has diabetes, but I consider her lucky that she has you for a Mom. Your here and looking for answers. Your attitude will be the one your daughter will adopt. You seem like a "can do" person and she will be the same. GOOD FOR YOU!

Welcome to the forums. I am sure you will learn lots and have lots of support!
