Has anone ever noticed that fingers from one hand bleed way better than the other? My right hand will NOT bleed, no matter how hard I press in with the lancing device before sticking. I habe no calouses or anything, but I am 90% right handed in just about anything. I prefer the middle and ring fingers on my left hand.

I do the forearms, and I bleed best toward the wrist, and definitely on the top of my forearm. Near the elbow, there's nothing. I do recall bleeding better on certain fingers when I went that route, but it was too long ago to remember!

How about your palms, the back of your fingers.

Haha, no, I have 2 arms, but 3 legs! Get it right next time! :D

Seriously, I have tested the forearms, and the readings have been off quite a bit. I do the thumbs and pinkys too, but those first two mentioned are my favorites :)

I used to always use my fingers.
I have been using my forearms but they have ran out of blood.

I bleed equally well from both hands... but I do tend to stick to just ring and middle fingers...

i use all fingers on my left hand. my right hand takes FOREVER to get blood, but my left gives it up easily. don't like using forearms due to having a hard time getting blood.

I seem to have the best results on the pinky finger or thumb, either hand, though I tend to stick the right hand more even though i'm right-handed. I stuck my forearms for awhile and it was less painful, but I developed bruising and it was very noticeable all up and down my forearms, so I went back to the fingers. Also, i've noticed if I wash my hands in warm water before sticking, I bleed better. Tried the palm once....OUCH!!!!!!

Has anybody tried the back of the fingers?
I don't get them to bleed enuff for testing.

How about the legs, or toes?

I haven't been able to get drops of blood from the toes. It just tends to be a big smear that I can't use with a strip. I haven't been able to get blood from the arms or legs, either.

little and ring finger are my preferred fingers to stab.

My middle finger never used to bleed until I discovered Vanicreme lotion now after using it daily for about three weeks all of my fingers bleed. Middle and index fingers get used more at work so I still prefer the other two.

Ever try the palm of your hand?? OMG ow! lol

I use arms, legs, palms, fingers, body. Haven't tried back of fingers. I use the Freestyle Mini and Freestyle lancet. Very, very little blood needed.

I test a lot and usually use the three middle fingers on both hands. I tend not to use the pinky much because it hurts most, and for some reason I always forget abut my thumbs! They do bleed best, too.

I tried alternate site testing and could never get enough blood from any of the sites. Then, the spot would ooze for hours. With my finger, I just rip off a strip of tissue or napkin, wrap it around the finger for a minute or so and the bleeding stops.

My fingers really could use a break. I might have to try alternate sites again, especially with winter drying out my skin .

My thought it that after years of testing we will loose a lot of the feeling in our fingers so it semed to make sense to limit the problem to just a few fingers. Therefore, I use my pinky and ring fingers on both hands. I also have noticed after a beer or two my blood flows much easier, to where I have to actively stop the bleeding as opposed to a quick swipe.

I use the thumb, first and second fingers, primarily on the left hand, as I am extremly right handed. Have trouble doing anything with my left.

The lab tech at my endo's told me to always use palm side of fingers - or toes - for the meter was calculated for the blood from that area. AccuChek Aviva. Haven't tired other locations.

Middle fingers, no doubt. I try to change around, but when I'm in a hurry, it's the middle ones up all the way.

I work those poor right fingers over something awful. Too left handed to use both hands. Only when the rt fingers get so calused they won't allow a small drop will I switch.
Have tried the arms, too many error messages from too small a drop. My insurer won't buy me the better systems anymore.

I use my index fingers 95% of the time, so much that they're callused. However, I don't seem to have many problems with it. On occasion, I'll use my middle finger, but that's usually when I can't seem to get ANYTHING out of the indexes.

I've tried using my palms & forarms, but it hurts too much and I don't seem to be able to get enough blood. The palms especially hurt the most, itched and just felt weird after doing it.

After 20 years, I hear front of the finger! I can't wait to try it. BTW, I am assuming Noel doesn't use his "other leg" for testing??

Middle and pinky on right hand only. Man do I make those two suffer :)

I play guitar as a hobby and mostly use a plectrum in my right hand. When I first started blood testing, I found it hurt to fret notes with fingers on my left hand, so I decided my right hand would get all the abuse. I don't play as often as I used to, but the right hand habit has stuck.

DAVE, DAVE, DAVE !!!!
For me, testing lets me know where I am at and what I need to do if I'm not where I should be. I guess me being a type 1 makes a difference.

After using the pads of all fingers for along time with various degrees of success, the ends give up the red gold easily and with a lower depth setting on the lancet.
