Well I can already see the benifits of this forum.

I took some really great advice and modified a couple of things. I was taking 35 units of lantus at night and 8 mg of avandia in the am and wacking all day long. I split my avandia into an am and pm 4mg and killed my bagle (it will be missed). But I'm keeping my Caffeine :coffee:

I decided to take a look at the south beach diet. I was able to get the coffee shop to make me an egg, cheese and sausage (no bread) and walla... a fasting of 150 to 190 an hr after eating... It had been atleast 300 for the last several weeks sense the change in insulin and meds. (I got away with more with fast acting) But The high highs and low lows were not worth it.

Trust me this is a biggie... I did not think my meter had numbers under 200....

By checking my b/g every hr I was able to see the peaks and valleys so I could see where the meds started slacking and I was left with holes in my coverage... By the time the morning came I was low on coverage so my numbers ran high after breakfast. After lunch the avandia had kicked in so around 2pm I was slipping down.

Thanks so much I pray this is the begining of good things.

Be Blessed,

Laurra

it's good to see you're control is improving! :D It's a common side effect of these forums :D

Well done, and keep up the good work!

So happy for you....it's so encouraging when you do something proactive and see results so quickly! I would also suggest that you check 2 hrs after meals, it would have probably been even lower then. I know you'll miss your bagel, but this is SO worth it!

I think carbs are a T2's biggest struggle. The less I consume, the better I feel and the better my levels are (though I doubt i'll ever lose the craving).

Hang in there...sounds like you've made some smart changes. Keep up the good work! Keep us posted.

I'm so happy for you because we all know how frustrating the "number game" can be. The best advice I was given four years ago was to cut back on the carbs.........it works! Good luck and I hope your numbers continue to drop!
