Hello,

First time here today. My friend recommended this site. I feel more relaxed already.

I was diagnosed Type 1 just about a month ago and it has been quite an adjustment since then. I'm currently on Novolog and Lantus. I just got the pens for both of them 4 days ago. I definitely prefer them to all the syringes but that OptiClik one for Lantus is so **** bulky.

My diabetic nurse tells me I'm in the honeymoon phase, so I guess it won't get any better than this, eh? Has anyone else recently been in the honeymoon phase?

Anyway, I'm glad I'm here.

Welcome Chewy.... I never had a honeymoon phase. I went right into diabetes head-on.

I am sure you will find lots of support and help here.

Hi chewy, welcome to the forum. Like you I'm a type 1 since I was 13 which is a long time ago now. This is a good site with some good laughs, plenty of advise and help when needed and a place to unwind if you ever want to do that. You have a lot to learn but you'll probably learn more on this site than anywhere else. Read all you can on diabetes and ask all the questions you want answers for, after all thats what this site is all about. So enjoy

Geez. You know life is dreary when you have no honeymoon phases. I like doing new stuff. Time for a change I guess.

Welcome Chewy.

Hi Chewy and Welcome.
I don't think I ever had a honeymoon phase. I've been dealing with this for 22 years.

Isn't the honeymoon phase a T1.5 thing?

I've been out of my honeymoon for about a year. It was a time of vague confusion... but for me, I wasn't started on insulin until far too late (in my opinion) so it was a rough time anyway.

I've heard it said that starting insulin early on is the best thing - can even kick your pancreas into action for a bit longer for some people.

Welcome to the forums, Chewy :)
