Just wanted to "update" with what has happened since "finding" the DF. I was pretty scared and determined by the time I found the DF at Christmas. 2years ago I went to Kaiser and they took me off Amaryl and put me on Metformin (which didn't work for me). I changed doctors (because the doctor wasn't interested), went back on Amaryl (which didn't really work either by this time) and then finally with the new doctor went back on a bigger dose of Metformin (which still wasn't working well). I eat well, am the correct weight, exercise, etc etc etc--I kept trying to "do better" and nothing worked. The doctor kept suggesting that I had to exercise more, eat less, eat less carbs etc etc etc. (the doctor didn't know what else to do---because she knows nothing about diabetes) My numbers were soaring and I was paniced. The DF recommended that I go to an endo which I have done and she put me back on Amaryl along with the Metformin. My BS has (almost immediately) gone to near perfect.
I SO appreciate the help--all the questions answered, (right now, each time I needed answers) by the DF, so I could do the right things while I was waiting for the appt. I NOW realize that I am totally responsible for my diabetes (no one cares about my health more than I do) and I will NEVER go without an engaged, trained, diabetes educated doctor again. Good to hear all is going in a much better direction June! Yes, having a well educated doc makes a world of difference I believe!! Keep up the good work, and continued good luck to you!!
