Last week I woke up with funky eyesight - double vision, trouble getting my vision to settle on one object, unable to focus both eyes together, dizziness...

After a week's worth of doctor visits, the latest theory is that I may have MS which is causing my vision problems - though they are getting better each day.

I was wondering if anyone else also has MS and how the two diseases work together?

Thanks for any information you can share.

Hello Rachel...

How has your BS been? Too low or high?
This can also be a cause for this.
I have both. I was Dx in April 06 with MS. What I know is that carefully keep an eye on the optic nerve. This is where the damage occurs. I have major eyesight problems, but this is from the 23 years of Diabetes and the many that I never kept a close eye on. Get Mri's and a spine tap done. This disease is tricky as well, there is No test to really tell you U have it or you dont. I see it like this; Your immune system is already attacked, so this makes it easier and weaker for any other one to come along and jump in.

If you have any questions, Please feel free to PM or contact me.

Good Luck Rachel, I hope it's not anything serious!! My sis is going thru the same sort of thing! She's being tested for MS as well (among other things too). Her eyes have been having trouble since November, and it came on all of a sudden. She's Type 2, and has been in good control since her diagnosis in July. Didn't go long if at all being unchecked, as she'd been tested regularly for some time now! It's so very frustrating! She has been to the eye doc, and he said she needs glasses, but has also done another test, a "field test" ... I guess that tests your periferral (sp?) vision. She'll know the results of that next week sometime. (forgot to tell ya about that Cinnabon! Oops!!) The strange thing is that it came on all of a sudden, she had a pain in her head and then, BAM, she had blurry vision, just like that! No warning, no sometiming or anything.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

well i dont have MS but i can sure tell ya that the diabetes does mess with your vision

right before i got diagnosed, i had alot of the symptons of diabetes, and the one that made it stick out in my head was the blurry vision not being able to focus etc..

i woke up one morning and BAM blurry vision! couldnt focus couldnt see, had trouble looking at the puter screen at work, reading road signs etc.... i went and had tests done ASAP for diabetes sure enough i had diabetes.

my doc told me the reason for the vision thing, is that if your running high for a few days and then your getting lower all of a sudden, your vision will be messed up.... it took me about 3 to 4 days to get over that vision blurriness

i dont know much on MS but if you have the combo it probably can be cause by a little of both....
