I just got the quote from my insurance company, and to my utter surprise, I was denied funding of any amount for the pump!!!!!!!!! I'm totally in shock. I called the insurance direct and was told that they cover $6,400, and I was rejected? I don't get it.

Did they specify why you were rejected? If not I would call up and ask. It might not be the money issue but some other reason and if we know the reason we can explain how to help correct it.

Can whatever pump company you chose help you out by contacting insurance for you? I never had to deal with my insurance at all - Minined did everything. I'm in the USA, so it might be different in Canada. The pump companies want to sell you their product and they have people who know how to deal with insurance so it's possible they can help you out.

Well, I just got off the phone with my insurance company. Seems like I am covered (which is what they said last time I called them direct), but their online claim form came back as no coverage. The insurance company will look into the claim form, so I hope that means everything is fine again. Now I will wait some more. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Injecto! Sorry to hear that bad new - what a joke eh? I'm very surprised because it doesn't seem hard to get here in Canada. I was told, when I was applying, that if the doctor wrote a note saying that you were having a hard time with highs and lows, were not handling the needles well, were super stressed etc. that the insurance companies were a lot more likely to go for it. On the flip side, if the doctor says that you're coming along fabulously with minimal problems, then the insurance company figures that you're not in need of it. Maybe you should talk to your doc about this and get a letter of some sort to help push for one. Good luck!
